so my sentia arrived wed morning (right on schedule) and ive been spending some time installing apps, setting configs, watching dvds, etc... so ill share a quick rundown of my experience thus far...
build: the build is solid. no serious flex. one thing though, the battery doesnt fit as super-snug as i think it could but thats no biggie. the power supply seems to be kind of cheapy as do the manuals, etc. there has been some mention about the optical drive eject button being in a poor location but it hasnt been an issue for me. one thing that AW's 200-point inspection missed was making sure all the screws were in place...cuz one of the screws on the bottom of my laptop was missing.
performance: 1.7gig dothan is working out quite nicely. came with 256mb ram and i added a 1gig so-dimm (from newegg.com) so its well equipped. although i havent really pushed it to its limit yet (cubase, protools, etc coming soon). the sentia is fairly quiet for a laptop even at its loudest when the fans and drives are spinning. could be quieter of course but im very happy with it. the laptop does tend to get hot but not flesh-eating hot. as hot as any laptop would conceivably get but not scortching.
display: execellent! definitely one of the best parts. up there with the sony xbrite if not of equal excellence.
keyboard: im not a fan of laptop keyboards but im finding my sentia to be very easy to type with. the only thing i dont like is that the Fn key is where the left Ctrl key is normally located on a regular keyboard. so reaching for the left Ctrl key (just right of the Fn key) requires a somewhat straining motion of my left hand.
touchpad: some people have reported sensitivity issues but i think its perfect. the touchpad could be sunken a bit to differentiate itself from the rest of the laptop but thats a very minor issue. as for the touchpad buttons, my left button seems to be sunken a bit. it works fine but along with the missing screw (mentioned above), those are my only real irks.
power cinema: it came preinstalled and has without error. i dig.
overall: im happy with my purchase. i still feel i spent a bit too much but the sentia has just about everything i want. i dig the size, the performance, the rubberized grips, the integrated wireless, power cinema, the wxga display... im still a newcomer to the lappy world so ill be spending a lot of time getting used to having a portable as well as how best to organize/sync/backup my files, email, etc, etc...
hope this all helps! btw, pix coming in six minutes...or not...
