Networking Troubles

Allright so here it goes...
I have a DSL modem running through a netgear router (Model #RP614, if that helps anybody) with no other firewalls except the one that came with the router. The problem is that neither AOL Anywhere (for those who don't know, it is a function of the AOL website that allows you to check your mail after you sign in on their secure server) nor Windows Update will work. Both give IE a "Cannot Find Page". If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem that would prevent me from ripping my hair out over this one.

I don't know if this will help, but here is what I had to do to fix the windows update thing. I keep 7 laptops to keep up to date and most of the batteries are dead. Anyway...

I reset my internet security level to the default. Tools, Internet Options, security. Hit default. Also, thanks to Adam one of the dead battery laptops was resetting the date back to 1980 or 1970.... set to today and mine worked.

Just a shot in the dark.
