Tecra 9100 won't boot - please help

When I power on my Tecra 9100 the power led comes on but there is no spinning up of the HDU, CD or anything on the screen. I can 'turn off' the machine by pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds.

Occasionally it will boot but invariably hangs/freezes at different points between the first 'red Toshiba' screen to after I've logged into Windows but always before I can do anything useful.

I've removed the HDU, CD and memory and tried turning on the machine to see if the machine will POST but it does nothing, again just the green led comes on.

Does anyone have a fault finding guide or able to help me diagnose the problem please.

Power Issues

Does your computer shutdown after a certain amount of time?

No the computer does not shutdown by itself.

It displays the same behaviour both on battery and mains power.

you will need to replace the mainboard (one with the I/O's) in somecases you will need to replace both boards.

you can try to apply a small ammount of preasure on the keyboard to help push the boards backtogether to form a solid connection again

Thanks for the info.

I have lifted out the keyboard but not disconnected it. Which boards do I need to re-seat underneath the keyboard.

Do you know where I can source the boards I need at a resonable cost...

You can try ebay, you need the main IO board and the pcb ( seats the cpu)

you dont need to remove the keyboard, just apply some pressure on it and it should push the connectors down onto eachother
