Sager 8886 released The 8882's replacement with the Radeon 9000 is now priced out on our site pctorque.com. I'm sure Powernotebooks and the other Sager resellers will have it up soon also. Initial shipping will begin around next Thursday. We will be doing a tear down and review like we did with the 5660 and posting it on www.sagerforums.com under the review section.

According to the above which Adam posted on the [H] shipping won't begin until next Thursday so I'd say you'll be waiting a week to a week and a half before the review appears.

USB 2.0?

Are the USB ports 2.0 or the old version? Also what resolution is the max for the 15.7 screen? Thanks.

Oh yeah

the customizer still says Radeon 7500, might want to change that.

Thanks, got it!

The USB ports are all USB 2.0 compliant, and the drivers will come on the driver disk with the Sager (pretty much the same as my own 5660).

Ok, checked elsewhere and yeah it's listed as 2.0. PCTorque, I'd suggest changing you homepage to list the 4 ports as 2.0 to avoid confusion! Since I believe the old 8882 and 8880 were not 2.0 compatible.

Just like I said above, the ports are all USB 2.0 compliant.

I just listed it, but understand why I didn't:
Sager didn't put this in the initial spec sheet I got and only verbally said it was so. I don't like to advertise anything I'm not 100% sure of, so I didn't list it. I went off blind faith once when they told me the brand and part # of the 5660 UXGA LCD... it turned out to be incorrect when I pulled it apart and checked myself. So, I'm basically trying to be completely honest to the customers.

I completely understand why you didn't post them as 2.0 previously, it's Sager's mistake to not provide better documentation to you. 2.0 is a big selling point with the new peripheals and you'd think that Sager would realize this. Thanks for being honest, I'll be ordering an 8886 shortly.

I think mobile gaming has come of age and gamers have taken noticed. I wouldn't be surprised if a good portion of people ordering the new sagers are hardcore gamers. Desktop's will still provide the best and most powerful solutions however there has been a growing trend for mobile gaming solutions. The shift has begun and it's only a matter of time before companies realize this and take full advantage of it. We, the consumer will of course benefit from this.
