Are you talking about the Geforce 4 4200 or 4400 or 4600? Right now I'd say the best thing to buy would be an oem 9500 from www.newegg.com for $130. A 4200 is a nice card though and its better then a 5200 and ati's 9200. The only problem is its not a direct x 9 card. Newer games are going to be using direct x 9 more and more.
Image quality is better on ati cards and they handle anisotropic filitering and antialliasing better.
Here's some reviews that you should find helpful. Anandtech compares cards across the board so there are very informative.
