I bought this laptop (Acer TravelMate 2000) 3 weeks ago...
This laptop on battery works two times slowet than on AC adapter.
My laptop hasn't any damage, i make tests on other travelmate 2000, all is the same.
This laptop is useless, if you work on battery sometimes -> don't buy it.
There is no any information in manual of laptop, or acer offert, before you buy.
There IS NO ADJUST POSSIBILITY, no additional software, no option in BIOS.

I believe you CAN change how fast it works on battery. Huffy one arent you?

Yes.. i tried all profiles of power managament...
On a few travelmates are the same results.
Independent of power profie notebook works two times slower.
In dos, windows. always two times slower (not processor but performance).
I make test on sisoft sandra (windows) and pcanalys (dos).

Belive me there is no possiblity. You can reprogram bios or write own managament software... but i think it require some technical specifitations from acer.... Acer will not give you service guide (i tried) so i think they dont give you schemes of this laptop too.

Anyone heard of Speedstep ? 'cmon every laptop slows down while on battery, this is one the basic concepts of laptops.

Example: Mine on bat=800Mhz Full power=1800Mhz, my centrino bat=800Mhz Full Power=1500Mhz, BOTH ACER, 1 travelmate 292, 1 ferrari

Put your power sheme to "Always on" and run some heavy application, it will go up to full speed.

I have installed plenty of those machines and I never had 1 single issue with them, so coming up with that kind of statements is misplaces.

"On a few travelmates the same results", 'cmon show me some proof of that.

Speedstep XP worsk only when processor has speedstep function (intel) or powernow (amd). Celeron Precessor hasnt speedtep so you cannot adjus it by speedstep XP.

For proove i put here 2 screenshots, they was make on always on scheme...
