HP QuickPlay software for DV1000 question

Can anyone fill me in on how the HP QuickPlay software works on the DV1000 notebook. This is the "...easy-to-use multimedia player software" that you can boot to instead of Windows on the DV1000.

My question is: is this something that is installed on a part of the hard drive, or is it based in ROM???

Thanks,

Hard question. Are you considering dv1000, aamsel? Looks like a good computer to me, but hard to tell since it's not available in Finland.

Did you get the nc6000? Did you send back the nx7010 (or whatever the equivalent was)?

As for the dv1000, I just want to see one of them, but nobody stocks them here. I don't really want to order one to see one.

I am getting the nc6000 today, I sent back the zt3000 already.
I will probably make a decision on the nc6000 within a day or two.

I am also highly considering an IBM X40.
I really want light and portable a lot.

What I wish is that I could see some of these darned machines without having to order them, and then return them. nc6000's and IBM's are not stocked anywhere, so there is, unfortunately no other choice. Haven't seen a dv1000 (or Compaq version) at any "big box store" here either.
