yea....
I always wondered if I were the only one buying these juicy laptops...
I don't care what anyone says about them, they are powerfull, cheap and Juicy!
clevo laptops are some of the best in the world I think.. i discovered this forum by accident.. sure wish they would notify users of it when you buy a Sager.
For my next project, I'm gonna modify this laptop like I did with my 5620 (wife uses it).. With that laptop, I removed the aluminum plate beneath the P4 heatsink. It's not very big, and fairly easy to remove. Once taken out, the Radeon is revealed. I always figured with proper heatsink and a fan, it would be able to raise up quite a lot in MHZ .. turns out this was the case, the R7500 in the 5620 easily rose up to 310 without a fan on it... with a fan, i got it to 339ish.. thats the high 3dmark score I got on the Madonion site. The instalation of a fan and its wiring inside the laptop is complex to explain. but actually easy ~8) ... I dont use the fan, in fact i removed it. The heatsink alone made an enormous difference for the R7500. The Video chips are near the P4 heatsink, but not overed by it. If you fashion a heatsink to fit in there, it will work MUCH better than that dumb plate. So I figure sometime after my warranty runs out on my 5660, I will do the same. It seems to respond nicely to overclocking. Just cant go very high due to the poor cooling for it. (or actually No cooling on it). With the exception of the goofy aluminum plate (spreader), there isnt any cooling. The plate is supposed to spread the heat, but i think the P4 heatsink actually warms it up, as the plate spreads all over under the P4's sink. Sure the fans pull air from above and below, but still its kinda lame..
