8790 AC power supply noises

I've had my 8790 for a few days now and noticed an electrical buzzing sound coming from the AC power supply along with a repetitive "beep". I emailed Sager's tech support and they told me to unplug it from the laptop and see if it still produces the sound and it stopped, but when I plugged it back up to the laptop it started up again. I hope it's not the laptop, however they're shipping me a new one and I will send the one I have back after it gets here.

The tech said that is NOT a normal sound so if anyone else has it, I recommend contacting them. They have very quick email responses!

Viper: i recently RMA'd my 8790. I HAD THE SAME NOISE comming from my battery pack... i noticed it the second i first booted it up... its almost like a sizzle. at first i thought my brick got wet, and was shorting out. Then i realised nothing was wrong with it. It just makes a sizzle/buzzing noise 24/7. Maybe you have my laptop!!! does it have a little mark on the P4 sticker???? if so, thats my old lappy!

No mark on the P4 sticker unless they replaced it with a new one. It's not the battery that's making the noise...it's the power brick, but you can only hear it when you get it close to your ear. I had it sitting up near my laptop the other night and heard a noise and discovered it was the brick. We'll see if it repeats when the new one gets here. If so, then I guess I'll have to RMA my laptop. It seems to function properly but I'm afraid of future failure and if this could be a sign of it.

yea, mine was the brick as well... i found that the main noise was mostly comming from where the plug from the outlet meets the brick. a hissing/sizzle/buzz type sound. RMA that ish, you dont want it to burn up

There is a pic of a burnt up power brick some where on these forums... his house coulda burnt down, so RMA it! its dangerous!

Well the new one came today and I swapped them out. Same damn noise from the new one. So it's either a normal noise....or my laptop needs some work. It works and charges my battery fully...so I'm not sure. You can only hear it if it's within about a foot or two from your ears and it's coming out of the side that goes to the laptop...aka the cord that's attached to it...not the detachable cord. So we'll see what Sager has to say.

UPDATE FROM SAGER:

"Hi, we found that the AC adapter made by LiShin International Enterprise Corp, model 02226A20150 has the noise. Our engineer dept. is checking this issue."

Can anyone else that has this AC adapter confirm the noise? We'll see what Sager says next.

ac adapter noise

I bought 2 ac adapters with my 8790, both are the li-shin 150W bricks... and both make interesting noises. Im assuming its just a Quality product... They all seem to do it (put your ear close if you dare and your sure to hear it).

Luckily, the 8790 features a super loud fan which drowns out the ac adapter noise quite well... oh wait, thats not a good thing either... hmm.

yea mines making like speaker static noises, but not too loud or constant. just like electrical static near the end where it plugs into the wall... i havent had any problems with it either, and i can only hear it when my ear is like close to it. should i contact sager? and if i do, do i have to pay for it to be sent back?!!
