I bought my A51m in late Febuary\2004 and considering all of it, I am very happy with it and have not got swept up into the video card update crisis that is ticking everybody off. My card works great in 32 on 32 man tournament play in bf1942 and thats not with all the settings turned down either. I just finished Farcry and Call of Duty and had no slowdowns or glitches at all, it's all good from the cheap seats. he he!
1)Crack in plastic fascia around lcd, it went from screen edge to hinge point on the right side.
2)Perpetual hassles with CDRW\DVD drive. Right now it makes perfect imaginary Cdr's, goes through the whole process and says it was sucessful anyways.
The lights on the unit blink on and off and I get no trouble codes from Nero, yet the cdr's are blank. It's a QSI unit and I guess that is the big reason,
I can't find anyone on the net that was ever happy with this drive, no matter the OEM that put it in their machine. This list included Dell, Toshiba, Sony and others, same drive, just different firmware.
My regret is that I didn't spend the little bit extra and buy the Lite-On Dvd writer that was an option. I have had much better luck with that brand over the years.
3) My XP software was issued with a bad serial number, the number on the sticker is actually no good, which requires me to get my install verified by calling in and talking to someone that always acts like I'm trying to rip Bill Gates off personally. lol.
4) My Pcm card door literally abandoned ship while I was typing about the second week I owned my machine. It just launched itself into the void behind my desk as though it was aware that I would probably never need to use that slot as everything is built in, even the memory reader. Yet, you would think they could design a door that couldn't commit suicide quite so easily.
P.S. I entered three in the poll and I guess this last item makes that invalid, if anyone out there is keeping score that is.
