We have had our Sager 8887 (16.1", 3.06 ghz, 1G DDR, 60 gig / 5400 rpm, CDRW/DVD) for less than a month, and the fan on the bottom stopped working yesterday, and today we looked at it and the area around the fan is melted and the computer is locking up randomly. The computer has been on a hard, level surface with all ventilation open, and the temperature for the past month has not exceeded 70 degrees in the room where the computer is kept.
Has anyone else had an issue like this? I was really psyched by the specs of the machine, and upon calling Sager we were issued an RMA # and instructed to ship the computer back (at our expense of course). Needless to say, I am very unhappy with the machine now. I searched the forum for mention of similar experiences but found none, so I am wondering if I just got a dud. Whatever the case, having to foot the bill because of defective hardware just hurts.
