Performance drop with new firmware (4750)

post #1 of 15

I just got to benchmarking my computer after installing the new fan firmware (newest revision) for the 4750. I'm not going to complain a lot because its not a huge difference but i dropped about 200 points in 3dmark 2004 and 300 in 01se. Anybody else notice something similar?
Current 3dmark01se= 14946
Current 3dmark03=4214
Before
3dmark01se=15252
3dmark03=4398

That's ... weird. I would think that having the fans on more often would keep the lappy cooler giving slightly better performance. Maybe the older versions would speed up more under high temps. You obviously OC'ed (very nice scores btw), so see if you still lose points at stock clocks.

i don't remember any of my stock clocks

472/250, try 3dmark at that and see what happens.

What i meant is that i didn't remember any of the ones before. Right now they are 3489 in 03. Haven't checked 01 yet.
I just defragmented and i got 40 points out of it. Hmm. I'm still confused.
Oh by the way this is with the omega 4.9s

3489 is right around what I got the first time I benched with stock drivers and the first firmware. I guess you could dl and install the old one and see what happens but I'm betting you're just as lazy as I am and won't bother. meh, we tried.

Yep i am that lazy. Plus i just read your golden number thread. I was very interesting. I'm doing a dual major in math and computer science at WMU. Plus i'm a freshman too. Thought i'd just go off topic for a bit. You know being 1:00 and all.

glad you enjoyed it. maybe I need to post in other forums to get my golden number thread advertised.

good luck with a double math comp sci major, one major is hard enough for me

Man, the golden number, it'd make my hair go bold.

On the double major, its a good idea to major in math because it is the fundamental of everything else. if your good at math, then you'll find engineering to be a lot more logical and easier. Dont Slack Off; Remember your integrations and derivatives or they'll come back to haunt you.

Ugh they haunt me already.

Plus if anybody wodered what i had my card clocked to and didn't want to check it out on the orb its. 555/315. It'll go highed i just have to wait for a colder night.

Or you could use a fan. Its hard enough just doing animation as a major. I could have done animation/film double major. But then I would probably have went completely insane.

phelptwan, you are the most daring 4750 oc'er i know. kudos to you!

Thank you. Every computer I've owned has been overclocked. I wasn't going to let the laptop go unscathed.
