well it seems that it has to be in contact with the chip (there are metal contact points all over the pad for power transfer). This means that if you build it into everything, you would clearly see it. Also this means you could not have it in your lap and still charge it (unless you build one into your lap that is.) I like this idea, yet it is only for people too lazy to plug the laptop in. I think it would be more useful for other products.

the wire free Mobilewise unit: if the chip was in the battery pack then to charge it all you would have to do is lay it on the pad along with your PDA and cell phone while using your notebook with the power cord or another battery. If they envision selling it to PDA manufacturers, the price point seems comparative to what people want for their notebook batteries.

the external battery analyzer/charger although expensive is not limited to one battery style/type/or voltage but it is limited to charging one battery at a time.

dread090: do you have one of the mtech chargers? The chart they show does not include 14.8V which is the voltage of the battery nor does their compatability chart mention Sager. Just wondering?

When i said everything i was refering to areas where people bring their lappys. Like a coffee shop, lecture hall desks, or any place mobile electronics would be handy...Airplanes Bus, and car trips. And as the technology gets better im sure it can become more discreet. I didnt actually mean everywhere.

SWEET! an external battery DOES exist! Would you trust this m-tech site? Their english looks a little sketchy, sorta like one of those weird chinese sites that would take your money and disappear the next day, if you know what I mean. They also don't give a lot of specs for the battery or pictures. Their buying page also does not give the option to buy the advanced or enhanced models.

Anyone use that thing? The M-Tech universal battery? Looks to good to be true... If anyone knows anything about it, post!
what you can do is search for the battery on like google to see what other places sell them.

I wish I knew how much time these batteries would add to an 888E, Im assumming the $400 with the built in fans would give the most extra time.. but if it's not more then an hour or 2 not really worth it..

I don't know if an external battery is the solution. You should only turn to those when they provide more bang for the buck. You can buy a Sager battery from PCTorque for very little (compared to external ones) or you could always try an alternative to Sager like Alienware (only if you have a 56**) yet this may not be the best. If you go for a main battery, go Sager. If you go for an external, just make sure it is worth the cost.

Umm what would going to alienware help with? its the same battery....
until the new alienware laptop with the new design comes out which I think from the propaganda thread here that they were supposed to be out 2-3 weeks ago???
well by searching for alienware batteries it allows you to search for the best price. Some places may sell an alienware battery yet not a sager one. In the hunt for the best price you could look at any place selling Clevos. Staying with PCTorque though would be the safest thing since you don't know 100% it is the same battery.

i actually bought THIS laptop from m-tech, i just say pro-star cuz pro-star built it (reseller of m-tech) due to my location.

m-tech is based on the eastern US
pro-star on the western

i can only assume that the word "THIS" was supposed to be a link... wanna link me?

ProStar is another DISTRIBUTOR of Clevo, like Sager is. They do not (technically) MAKE the laptop, any more than Sager does.

M-Tech is a reseller of ProStar, like PC Torque is a reseller of Sager.

(this was added for others who browse this thread)

prostar receives the parts from clevo and proceeds to put them together, clevo is only a chassis/mobo manufacturer, dunno bout the screen.

pro-star is a reseller of mtech which is a reseller of clevo.
The initial receipt which I received stated this information.

Sager is a reseller of clevo and pctorque/powernotebooks/extremenotebooks/that other one are all resellers of sager.
alienware/hypersonic/vodoo are resellers of clevo but do not have their own resellers (except mainly best buy but thats a department store) and are out on their own.
