yeah the oc settings are 452/320
1551 with 526/310. My friend with a 9500 Pro scored 1650 with his core/mem at 276/270. He's using latest Omegas and I'm using latest Cats. Is that right?

edit: he's got a gig of ram versus my 512.
Just did a format and installed Omega's 2590's. I'm getting 2653 with the default settings. I'm too chicken to overclock my card. So is it true that the full 256 mb's of memory isn't being used in the current drivers??

9500 pro versus a mr9700? hmm interesting it's possible between the mem and omegas he'd get a little bump. processors any different?
I believe he has a 2.8 oced to 3.xx so his memory is probably running at super high speeds. But still, I couldn't believe it. I thought maybe his Omegas was what was giving him the bigger boost. I got up to 553/317 with no artifacts but I toned it down to 526/310 just to be "safe."
well, that explains it

unlike the 9500, the 9500 PRO is an 8 pipeline card , so of course it's faster than your mr9700 with only 4 pipelines

This gives you an idea how mych faster a 4 pipe card has to work to be equal to an 8 pipe card. So don't feel bad, you're probably running exactly where you should be running in comparison. Get a mr9800 and you'll show him the Money then haha
post #127 of 143
I wish someone could show me the money so I could then show my friend the money.

Didn't know his card had 8 pipelines . . . very interesting

Through my testing, I didn't see much of a temp increase at all. How are you guys testing your temps? As soon as 3dmark finishes, I exit and I already have fangui running on the desktop to check.

I've searched the forums and I think the highest oc I've seen for a mr9700 was 550/330? What's the absolute highest the card should be able to handle given all gpu and ram are good?

I'll look around the net a little more but just wanted to see if you guys saw anything.
well if you have that little graph going, you can look there to see if it has spiked above what you are seeing at the end of the benchmark.

I'd say 550 is close to the limit, though depending on the individual chip, you may be able to go further.

there's really no need in trying to push it any harder than that. what I'd be concerned about is why all these reports of the 9800 not being offered anymore, is that a sign of low production or a sign of it not being around anymore? both are worriesome if you are trying to save up some money for one that might not be around when you can afford it
post #129 of 143
I was just ocing to beat my friend's 9500 pro but we're pretty much even if I oc. I'll probably just notch it up 2 or 3 slots above default for permanent use.

*Some* 9500 Pro's are soft modabble to be 8 pipeline. NOT ALL.
So 2600ish is about the average for non-OC it seems?

yeah depending on setup (driver, cpu, hd, memory, etc) the scores i've hit range from 2400ish to 2600ish for non-OC mr9800

you sure you don't mean 9500's? I went looking for data on the 9500 pro, and found reviews so I could get it's particulars, and it was the reviews that stated the pro was 8 pipes versus the 9500 standard as 4. now i could be wrong if those reviews were wrong, so if you know of a more accurate reveiw, please point that out so i don't mess up in the future
post #134 of 143
I think it was the 9500s that could soft mod to 9700 but I opted for the 9500 Pro which could only be soft modded to 9700 speeds but will 8 pipelines vs. 4.

I scored 1095... with my 9700, what is normal on a non overclocked system?

My specs om my inspiron are
3.0 p4
512
9700 128
latest omegas
I believe that question has already been answered in a previous post... Prior to adjusting my system, I was achieving ~2800 3dmark05 points. Now after some modification, I've boosted my score to ~3460 which I believe is comparable to the average system of my caliber: 3.4 Ghz P4 Prescott IXPS non EE with a 1G RAM, RM 9800 256 o/c 445 core 400 memory on omega drivers and all options set to highest performance. I've seen scores well over 3800 so considering I just spent 3k on this system, I don't believe I have any bragging rights. Maybe if I made some cooling mods I could actually compete. Until then, I'm just one of the regulars.

not really.... coming from a desktop with no link to prove it. If you haven't noticed by now you're posting on LAPTOP forums

edit: I also don't care how much you claim to have overclocked that processor, a 2500 is a MAJOR bottleneck for a system like that... 333 MHz FSB and only 512KB L2 cache!?!?

Took the words out of my mouth. Not only that, why do we care what your desktop rig does in a Notebook forum? I personally could care less how sma.... no, I won't say it, nevermind. -.- *closes beak*
