I just ran the demo. This group, Poets of the Fall, sounds really good. I love their song, "Lift Me Higher" that runs at the demo's end.

jswriter, what's your score with that beautiful 6800 GT OC?
I tried running it twice, but the program kept freezing up. The demo ran, but it was really choppy.
err what do u guys mean the demo? Is it a feature in the pro version???
Look at the bottom right corner of the 3DMARK05's window. You'll see a button labelled "Demo." Click it to run the demo and hear that song.

a general question:
what levels are you putting in the control panel for the gfx card when running your test? (i.e. AA/AF/texture preference/mipmap detail level/VS, etc)

Do you guys put the main setting slider on optimal performance, balanced, optimal quality, or something custom???

Also, what drivers are you guys using... Dell's, Omegas, etc???

icspeedracer, just click run Demo, don't bother changing the settings because that voids your actual benchmark for posting on here. I am currently using Omega 2.5.76
post #28 of 143
Well I am running the Omega 4.9s and err I have everything left the way Omega had it. I did change the opengl settings for 8x af and 2xaa cuz i was playing Doom 3 and forgot to change it back to default which is app preference.
well my system is still running, I have now increased to 3924.

I am running 425c/375m
ATI Catalyst 8.07
Default Settings.
Madly tuned copy of windoze...

I still havent found the limits my card can take yet. I have successfully oc'ed to 450/425. what have you guys made it to so far?
How did you get the 4.9+ ATI Cat's installed anyways? I haven't found any of the Mod tools that will work with the MR9800 yet, are there any?
Well ati cats can be installed by a tool on driverheaven. And for better perf get Omega drivers at www.omegadrivers.com or something like that. Just google it
post #32 of 143
Question to 9800 owners: How does your data submitted to ORB? There are MR, MR9000, MR910IGP, MR9200, MR9600 only. I know that MR9700 is recognized as MR9600 by 3dmark. Where's MR9800 data going?
hehe i got a 1338 on my 9100

Weird...

Weird... With the latest Omega Drivers, I'm only getting about 2000 with my MR9800 on stock speeds. That doesn't sound right at all... Is it just me or does anyone else think the new Omega's 'Advance 3d' tab is just horribly designed?
Dangit, this is frustrating! The fastest I've been able to manage is about 2600 with my MR9800 overclocked. Is it the Omega drivers or something? Something is seriously screwed up here and it's making me sad.
Hey Corvus your scores aredefinitely on the lower side for a 9800 but I am on campus at my university so I dont have my machine with me. Maybe you can give me a listing of your settings or something on Omega drivers and also what processes you have on when benching and hopefully I will be able to help you out. Cause with no ocing I gt 2694 no prob. Cant wait for the later versions of the Cat driver because when ATI benched the new drivers with 3dmark that is what pushed them over the 6800 ultra!!! Yayyyy!!! I cant wait!! So possibly I can get higher scores...maybe as high as a stock x700 who knows? Exciting times!!!

Well there is something amiss with the Omega drivers for me. I had installed and uninstalled the DNA drivers just to see what they were like, and what a nightmare that was. I had to run tune-up utilities to fix a registry problem, otherwise any 3d graphics didn't work. I installed the Dell Drivers for the MR9800 and got a stock 2509 which is better then the Omegas. I'm running an overclock right now to see what I get. Also, what does everyone get in the CPU tests? I don't think I ever got over 3 or 4 fps, and it's almost always at 1fps.

3.4ghz Non EE
1gb Dual channel Corsair
80gb 5400rpm
MR9800

Update: With 400 Core/350 Memory and the Dell Drivers, I got 2889 3dmarks. This is with everything turned to 'Optimal performance'.
Agh, this is driving me *crazy* I hate strange little problems like this. *sigh* :0P
post #39 of 143
I got a crappy 2659 with 1gig of Corsair XMS and a 9800 running Omega drivers. This is sad. Corvus keep me posted what you find. Maybe it is the Omegas. Oh I have a 3.2Ghz CPU as well.
Yeah I think I got around 3-5 fps on CPU tests and that sucked...hehe but it was at 1 most of the time...so looks like the dual channel corsair provides no additional performance boost at least in 3dmark...maybe the stock ram is good enough for the iXPS. Hmm I dotn know what settings my omega drivers are on but I think they are the default settings that came when the drivers were nstalled...except for the opengl settings which I changed a bit to play doom because I had it set at 16x af and 2x aa so I am gonna have to change that to default and redo the benchmark. Maybe I will get a perf boost who knows!!
