What drivers are you using? The Dell Drivers are slower then the Omegas. Also, check your 'quality' settings, most people use 'performance' or 'high performance' to do benchmarking.

Wow Struzor... I don't know what to tell you. I would just do a fresh format if I were you, something has to be severely wrong with your settings somewhere.

Okee...

iXPS 3.4nonEE, 1Gig, 7200rpm drive

With the 9700 128MB card using Omega 2.5.51(i think.. .56 maybe?) it showed just over 1300 3Dmarks... i didn't save the result.

With the new 9800 256MB card, using the dell drivers, 2292 3DMarks.

Pretty happy about that.. :-)

Yeah Struzor seems to me that you are around 700 points off the average. Are u using Omegas drivers?

3dMark05 kicked my comps A$$ i got 1,336
wow guess mine scored ok then. Its still slow as hell but it seems to keep up with the other 9700's and then some. My drivers are at the default omega settings. I didnt change a thing. I would hope a mobility 9800 would get over 3k.

i have the dell drivers and no overclocking .....what is your specs 1/2bentand your score
post #68 of 143
It was a 1366. Used the latest omega's.

Hello Dell users,

My score is 1485 on an 3.2G/512/128MR9700 with latest Omega (slightly oc). I have to admit that I'm really dissapointed with the 3dmark05 scores and overall performance, it really gives you the impression you're running a 286 no-coproc CPU on a 2d videocard. While I agree that the benchmark values give an ideea of how the future hardware should perform like in the new game releases, I strongly believe software developers these days are WAAAAY BEHIND the hardware developers. As everyone can see with their bare eyes, the latest game releases tend to be more and more agressive on memory/cpu/and_so_on requirements...I mean come on, gimme a break, do you really think that's what your CPU/GPU can REALLY do with well-written software? Asking for a minimum P4-2Ghz with 512MB RAM and 128MB state-of-the-art GPU to run some textures on your screen is a little extreme IMHO...Of course, this is due to developers using very high-level programming languages, which are efficient on code writing (and subsequently for bringing in the ca$h, but the code quality sucks...)

For nice programming techiques, check out the following site:

www.theproduct.de and check those demos, they'll blow you away....
A graphic demo in 64k and a game in 96k, that's amazingly efficient code, it reminds me of the good old days of machine language programming and makes me wonder how they did it (probably Direct3d/Directx functions adressed thru Windows API)?

While I agree with you mostly, the one problem I'm having with game developers is that they are tending to spend WAY too much time making their games look so uber-pretty that they are totally forgetting to put effort and time into the actual gameplay. (Doom 3 I'm talking to you, ahem.) Also, I'm worried that companies are going to spend so much time on graphical engines, that games will be the whole '4 years in development' bullcrap, ie HL2 and D3, etc, etc. It's starting to get annoying having to wait so long and having to hear so much hype from the game companies. -.-

I'm using Omega 2.5.76. I was also running on battery with a fairly low battery when I ran it, though I had Powerplay turned off. I don't like how the new Omega's have the OpenGL and stuff setup though, that could be throwing it off. My system is fairly fresh, I only have Doom3, Everquest and Everquest2 installed, along with some system monitering stuff. I re-installed the Omega's and am going to run 3dmark05 again later and see if my results are any different, will also leave it plugged in.

I know exactly what you mean, I can't STAND the way you adjust 3d settings for OGL/D3D, it's terribly designed. :0P

Don't know if you know or not (hoping at least someone doesn't ) but htese are the guys who did the theme song for Max Payne 2, another awesome song.

I'm keeping an eye on these guys, they're gonna be huge one day! If only they'd do a UK gig or two...

Guys and gals, just wait untill ATI releases a final version of it's now in-beta drivers. They are WAY faster and fix a problem with cards that have 256mb of memory on them. I just hope that Patje adds the mr9800 to the Mobility Modder soon. If Omega doesn't change the D3D/OGL panel back to how it used to be in his next release, I'm not using them anymore, I can't *stand* how it is now.

i dont think the 9800 will be getting old any time soon (maybe 3-6 months from now) in terms of mobile gaming... when compared to desktops, they can't compare because of the power constrants that have to be put on these machines... who wants 1 hr batt life??? although i saw this interesting article (http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/mobile/...001053948.html) about the Nvidia 6800 go... if they release it this year with 12 or 16 pipes i would like ati would have a contender to deal with... besides its own mobile cards
post #78 of 143
I'm now getting 2727 now with everything in D3d and OGL set to Application Preference if it's an option, and High Performance otherwise.
Yeah Struzor that score looks about right. And also think about it this way. The mobile card is clocked lower and it is half well hardware specswise, almost half of a high end Radeon x800 xt pe. Half the pipelines etc etc you get the idea. Considering that you are getting half the score of what the big guys are scoring...so thats pretty incredible. I hope though that wit hthe new ATI drivers and their bug fixes we get pushed to 3k then it would be awesome. ANd also I hope that new found performance translates into some real world gaming frames per second improvements. True Nvidia might come out with someting better in case of the mobile arena but so will ATI pretty soon. I read next one will be around 12 pipelines. So it shall be pretty interesting to see what happens around next year.

2680....low isn't it?

I purchased the 9100 with the following specs and based on others scores, I would think my score would of been higher.

Here are my stats.

P4 3.2 prescott
1024 ram
256mb 9800 radeon
60gig 7200rpm
XP Professional

Any ideas?
