I scored a 2534. Using Dell drivers. Ran the test with the demo version of the tool which doesn't let you modify any settings.

In the world of modern computers and the current advancement of hardware, assuming the system isnt a crashing pig, I can fully say because I still own a few...

CRAPPY SCORES = CRAPPY COMPUTERS
CRAPPY USERS = CRAPPY COMPUTERS = CRAPPY SCORES
POOR USERS = CRAPPY COMPUTERS = CRAPPY SCORES
I AM POOR = MY CRAPPY COMPUTER = MY CRAPPY SCORE
GOVT BUYS ME NEW I9100 = NOW I HOLD RECORDS.... (hee hee)

Bottom line is if your score is crappy, you can pretty much count that your computer will soon if not already need a cane, dentures, a bathroom with handlebars, or a tombstone...

Hey guys, I just downloaded and ran 3DMark05. I got 2492. Is there any way to optimize your machine while still using Dell drivers?

Just my 2cents re: the programming abilities of 3Dmark. I don't believe anyone can really come up with a qualitative assessment unless they have the listings (Source Code). I agree with those who stated that this test is stressing the latest and greatest video GPU's/Memory and the latest CPU's. The scores decrease with the latest tests simply because much more can be done to test them.

I suspect to give YOUR system the best environment to run these tests you'd most likely have to:

1) download the most optimal drivers for your video card.
2) shut off any non necessary tasks admin, background, otherwise.
3) understand how your computer works in order to do 1 & 2.

Lastly, who cares who's got the biggest score other than trying to see if your particular platform is running optimally. There are so many variable that affect any outcome. SO if you are measuring or competing then you have to use the same environment for that measurement to be qualitative. Just slapping the 3Dmark05 and letting her fly will only measure that machines ability according to that present environment.

Never had the patience to complete a full test, always get bored after a few minutes and end up cancelling. Also the fact that it's drudging along at 5fps doesn't help. Is that normal for my specifications?

Inspiron 8600
WSXGA 15.4"
128mb Radeon 9600 Mobile
768mb RAM
80gb 5400rpm HDD

3Dmark05:2666 up from 2654 with the new Omegas.
No performance increase with 3Dmark03 with a score of 6450.
At first when I installed the new Omegas my performance dropped considerably. I put the settings where I had them with the last drivers then they went up. And for about two hours tried a whole-lotta-buncha combos of setting to see what different scores they yielded.

When I run a benchmark what settings should I set my GPU to?
For the 05 score above I left AA and Aniso on app. preferance.
In 3Dmark05 because I have the prof. version I can set them to what I want. For this benchmark I left every setting in 3Dmark at default.

If I set AA and Aniso in 3Dmark different to what I set ATI too will they over ride the each other?

No oc'ing buy the way but a bit of windows tweaking thanks to tweakgudes.com and Blackviper.com.

Piece!
