Five-Star Programs, Give or Take!

I found a couple of outstanding programs I thought would be useful to Sager folk and got the idea to start this thread. Post information or ask questions about any program that you consider outstanding! However, please remember the eleventh commandment that states "Thou shall not FLAME thy neighbor!"

I'll start off with a must-have program for any gmail user called the Gmail Notifier. This is not to be confused with the Firefox Gmail Notifier which is a great extension but only works in and when Firefox is running.
To make the gmail experience even more enjoyable than it already is, this program unobtrusively sits in your tray and notifies you when you have received a new gmail message by displaying a small balloon which contains the title of the message and a small portion of the text. If you notice a message that you want to read, double clicking the icon brings up your browser with the gmail inbox logged in and ready to go; talk about ease of use! Subsequently, this really comes in handy when you don't want a resource-hogging browser window always running but are expecting an important message.
IMHO, this is a must have program for all gmail users. Even though it is still officially in the beta stage, probably because gmail itself is, I've been using it for quite some time without so much as a hiccup. It is uber-light on resources, easy to configure and is a "set it and forget it" program; the clincher however, is that it's free. Consequently, I give it a 5-star rating and consider it a must have program if you use gmail.

Another outstanding program is the Yankee Clipper III
This is another set-and-forget program that records anything you cut or copy, separates them into categories (URLs from text from rich text, from pictures, etc.) and lets U paste them at your leisure instead of one at a time. All entries are kept until you delete them making the program an excellent form filler, word processing assistant, password saver, etc.; you can even print directly from the program's easy to configure and use interface. In addition, Yankee Clipper III too is absolutely, positively FFFRRREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! without any advertising or the malware you get with a large percentage of freeware. Thus, I give the program a 5-star rating and consider it another must have program.

Yeah, it's nice. I've been using it for over a month.

I don't know, "why is this is the Sager section?" Is this a trick question?

I prefer the forum's Sager section. This is the section that has the gmail giveaway thread. Thus, I felt it the appropriate section.

Thanks Drawmonster, glad somebody else can vouch for it.
Just out of curiosity are your initials MJG?

Off Topic: Gmail Invites
Desktops or Other Technology: Draw's Gmail invite thread
Notebook General: I got six more Gmail invites.
Dell General: Anyone want a gmail account?
Dell XPS/9100: GMail invites
Gateway/Emachines General: OT: Gmail
Alienware General: Gmail Invites

I'll let that speak for itself

I've been using it, too. Only problem I've had (if you call it a "problem") is that when I have it open my Inbox, doesn't automatically log me in. I have to sign in. It's nice having it, though. I'm used to that sort of thing w/ Trillian and my email Hotmail acct.

You selectively left out the Sager General one: GMAIL Invites .
By the way, did you notice the diversification of your selected threads? I can see neither rhyme nor rhythm to them.
I do like your quote though, used it for a while myself, it says it all!

I've been using it for about a month too. Great program. And Toast, it only does that because you haven't set it to remember your name and password. If you set it to remember your name and password, though it only lasts for two weeks (kudos on that btw), then it truely is 'set and forget'.

Pyrobob, have you ever tried Yankee Clipper?
Nope. What's it do? Can't be bothered to read the whole homepage.

EDIT: Just looks like a souped up version of Ctrl+C that takes up resources

It's the only program I use more than my browser!

Ah, gotcha. That makes sense. Altho' I guess I'm paranoid. I don't like it *remembering* my crap for some reason. Altho' I guess Gmail Notifier knows it...

Never said I was sensible in my insanity.

If there is a way to make Ctrl+C record and organize all of your cut/copy jobs automatically for subsequent repetitive paste jobs like Yankee Clipper, I would have to agree with you and stop using the program in favor of your method.
However, since I can't seem to figure this method of yours out, perhaps you wouldn't mind sharing it with me.
Thanks

Lol, I just copy one thing at a time. If I need to copy two things... well, I never have. But if I do, I'll check out Yankee Clipper.

Uh... no.

A) I didn't selectively leave it out. You had stated that Sager General had the gmail invite thread, so I was listing all the other forums that had one too.

B) You can see neither rhyme nor reason to them? To inform you, all of them are specifically to do with Gmail invites. There is a very definite similarity.

C) If you are implying that the quote applies to me, you are perfectly incorrect. It can be sent back right at you. You are currently a failure at failing to fail.

(PS, I just wanted to use that failure 'quote' somewhere, and here was my somewhat farfetched change )
A) I'm with you.

B) There is no B, but I like the lettered bullet points.

C) NN had a sad story about the state of our justice system. http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/09/28/pho....ap/index.html

This is off topic even in the off topic forum

B Nietsnie

B Nietsnie,
OK.......
1.I'm sorry that you don't approve of my post and did not mean to upset you. The reason I said selectively is to imply that you knew it was there but didn't include it because it was already mentioned and I needed it to show why I thought the thread appropriate.
2.The ‘neither rhyme nor rhythm’ was to show that the posts' locations lacked a pattern and were selected according to the forum section the posters frequented.
3.How was I insulting you when I complimented your quote, stated I used it myself and affirmed that more people should heed the warning including myself?
4.I won't even hazard a guess as to what "You are currently a failure at failing to fail" means, although judging by its tone I'm sure it was not a compliment. I do not wish to engage in any public flaming of someone I’ve never met and know nothing about. You may be a great guy who’s just having a bad day for all I know!
5.My post was intended for Sager owners who either obtained a gmail invite from my gmail invitations thread or elsewhere and could use a very useful gmail related program to enhance their gmail/Sager experience and do so with a smaller drain on their Sager’s resources as well as their budget.

In conclusion, I don’t understand your motive for admonishing me since you obviously are not a moderator. Why not simply view the thread and, if you aren’t interested, move on instead of bickering about it?
However, I do know of simple yet effective methods which will prevent us from having a discussion similar to this one again. We can avoid viewing each others threads by using either self-control or the Ignore list which the forum provides for contingencies such as these. Subsequently, due to your age, my distaste for public confrontations and the best interests of the forum and its members, I believe this is the course of action which I will subscribe to and ask that you do the same.
Regards
