Update: Although the streaming video problem was fixed, I tried opening up Rome: Total War after installing it today and going to the battlefield mode caused enourmous artifacts. Tested it using almost every different setting, turned off OC, etc. Couldn't get it to go away. Switched to the newest Omega Drivers (2.5.90) and everything is working perfectly now.

Morale of the story? Don't change drivers unless you've got a damn good reason to.

Unzip the file to your hard drive.

The file 879bv10.iso is the image of a bootable disk with all the files for updating the system BIOS.

Burn the 879bv10.iso to a CDR or CDRW disc.

Use the disc to boot the computer to flash the system BIOS.

After the system bios flashed, please load the default settings in the CMOS setup.

FYI: I received a bios update for my 5680 from Sager Tech Support (thanks, Ted). He gave me bios rev 1.00.09t4 and two keyboard bios revs to choose from (I used 1.00.05). I put them both in then installed the latest Radeon Omega Drivers (2.5.90). So far, the video playback issue is gone and everything is running saweet. Finally!

Ok, so now quite a few people have gotten the new bios. Where are the reviews for it? Currently my machine is in for repairs right now, but I'd like an idea of what driver combos people are using, settings, oc tools (radlinker or powerstrip) used successfully.

So far we have one claim of reversed/negative colors, another claim that Rome Total War doesn't work with the 8.04 drivers, and another that the latest Omega drivers work just fine.

Further info is requested.

Sager 8790 = Clevo D870P?

Is the Sager 8790 the same unit as the Clevo D870P? Physically
they look the same I just want to verify this before trying
a bios update. Thank you.

My review of the latest drivers and bios update

Well I did it I got the bios update and the latest drivers from Omega and installed them yesterday.
I had 1 issue with the smartgaurd being set wrong but found it in the programs area of my computer after I installed the drivers.
I just clicked the test button for each feature in the smartgaurd list and then did a restart and everything worked GREAT
I have not had any issues after that and have noticed one major thing, the left side of my computer does not feel like it is a 100 degrees anymore woot.
I would highly recomend that you update as it has more pros than cons from what I have seen so far and in the end the lowered heat is an extreme bonus to me for the NP8790 model as this was one of my only gripes about it.
I hope this helps.

Yeah I've gotta agree, the left side of the palmrest is feeling much cooler since I've installed the new bios update. I'm still having some trouble with the drivers and the inverted WMV color (If you want to test this out, try to view the XPrize flight of 29 Sept), but the cooler palm rest is so much nicer.

Well, to continue my ongoing struggle with the new bios/drivers, I finally nailed down the wmv problem. Whatever it was, I downloaded WMP10 and all problems immediately went away. However, while the new bios decreases the heat on the palmrest, it also decreases the OCing ability of the 9700, apparently. I've had mine clocked at 500/300 for almost 2 months now and after the new bios was installed it began causing major problems. Games would completely artifact up, and it would carry over onto my desktop also. I'm still testing this to see what's causing the problems with OC, but I can only run safely at stock settings right now

Kevin,

You ISP rejected the ZIP file. Seems that won't let you receive one.

I'm sorry for being so far behind on this. But is it possible for someone to send me the latest bios update for my 5680? I still have the original that came with it. And as of right now, I can't watch any movies. Please Help!!

Thanks Bro'
Thanks also G-OMAHA, but be careful dude, you sent me a bios for a 8790, not a 5680.
I've messed my computer up pretty bad before installing the wrong bios.
Paxman - why are you requesting a 5680 BIOS in a 8790 thread? G-Omaha has likely mailed this to tens of people and thought you were yet another one asking for it; hard to fault him......
