PCI TV tuner

What's a good hassle-free PCI TV tuner that I can get for under $200, preferrably under $105, and cable compatible? I'm probably going to use it also for transferring a video tape to file and maybe using it to play the X-Box.

I'm kinda leaning towards ATI or Leadtek. Does anyone have any suggestions?

what model is it?

Leadtek Winfast Deluxe, it is AWESOME. Hook all my consoles up to it, great for TV and FM, and I use it with my Logitech Z-640 speakers and Audigy Gamer sound card. It's wonderful, and I would recommend them to anyone.

I was looking at the Winfast Expert, is there any difference between the two?

In the Deluxe you loop the sound using a cable from the audio out on the card into the Line in (preferrably) or the Mic Port on your soundcard/onboard sound. The Expert you connect it from the sound in the motherboard or your sound card to the card itself, to the tv tuner card, internally.

Ah icic, would connecting sound be better internally or externally?

That would be better, it would save you your Line-In port for other purposes.

I guess WinFast Expert's going to be my choice, though newegg.com doesn't have any on stock yet. Has anyone encountered any issues with the Leadtek card? (i.e. recording issues, sound issues, installation problems, etc)

What other purposes are there? I have never encountered any. I'd much rather use my MIC port for gaming, although I won't have to because I just got my Plantronics CounterStrike DSP-500's from newegg

I have Adelphia Standard Cable TV, connected by Cable line and it works wonderfully. Also the sound is perfectly clear through the line in port so if you want to save yourself a hassle (and a few bucks) get the Deluxe.

I read somewhere that the WinFast Expert had a problem with recording because the audio is out-of-sync. Is that true?
I'm not sure, I don't think that is true. They have a built in audio decoder so maybe that persons was off or something. The Deluxe doesn't have one built in because it loops the sound.

Ah, or could it be from Windows XP SP2? I figure a lotta programs have difficulty under SP2 and at some colleges, that update is mandatory.

I really couldn't tell you because I don't have it. It is just up to you to take the risk. The Deluxe worked fine under SP2 for IT Professionals. Now it is in a computer with a hacked XP Pro operating system, not the one in my sig.. going to update sig now.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'm going with the Leadtek. Now all I have to do is wait for newegg to get some in stock...
