Recently, as I am sure all of you have noticed, there has been a freezing during video playback, this started with the new Sager/Catalyst/Omega drivers. Now the fix:

8790:
Bios version 1.00.10, this newest version will fix the DVD/Video playback freezes caused by the latest drivers.

4750:
Bios version 1.03, This will correct DVD/video playback freezes as well as fix Powernow in windows XP SP2.

To get these new revision you will need to contact: techsupport@sagernotebook.com

Have a Downloadlink for the biosfile? No support address please. ;-)

Excellent! I had hoped Sager would take notice of our constant whining

Could Sager install this and SP2 for me when I send my 4750 in for repairs? Perhaps swap out my XP Pro SP1 CD with a XP Pro SP2? (I'm gonna reformat)

Of course not, Sager is still working on the BIOS update to fix the 5690 aswell, the 4750 and 8790 BIOS were just the 1st to roll off the line.

Luke, I rec'd the bios update for the 8790, I'm having a problem as to how to burn the iso file with Nero, I've extracted the files {2} and burned them to CD-R, and have set bios to boot off CD. When I reboot, I just go into windows. Any help is appreciated.

Babbabresaur, in your BIOS, have you set the computer to boot from CD before it boots from the harddrive?
Wbeck, yep I did enable CD as the 1st boot device, I'm wondering if I burnt the bin files incorrectly to CD-R. Is their anything special need be done with an iso file?
In Nero it's called "Burn Image To Disk". DO NOT just copy the files to the CD-R/RW as that will not work.

If you extracted the file and got two BIN files rather than 879BV10.ISO, try right clicking on the zip files and asking for it to "Extract Here". This ISO file is the one that should be used as input into the NERO Burn Image To Disk function.

I just got through upgrading the BIOS and the Video Drivers. Accomplished without a problem. The HDTV display appears to be a bit more vibrant as far as colors and contrast go. I really don't play games, so can not provide anything more usefull.
BTW - I have an NP8790-S.

For purposes of clarity:

I view the HDTV on the laptop and and not on an external monitor. I also am able to capture and record the HDTV images from the Motorola Digital Receiver via an IEE1394 connection.

It's SWEET....

Only downside, is that I can't transcode it to a DVD wtih any product that I have/know about.

can anybody post these drivers online?

has anybody reported conflicts after the update of the bios?

Open the folder to which you installed it and click on the SETUP program. Now the BIOS is something else.

G-Omaha: I followed your instructions on burning this file, but I did not see an iso file. I called PC Torques 24 hr help desk, and was told that Sager probably sent me the wrong file and not the bios revision. Would you mind sending me the file they sent you. My email is Babbabresaur@aol.com. Thanks
