you probably can't get an XPS as it were, but the 9100 is an XPS. In the US, we're all about marketing, we're so pathetic in that sense hehe

So Dell picked the WUXGA screen, the 3.4 processors (or the EE's), made a special bag, assigned some special phone lines, and charged a little extra to have the letters XPS put on the laptop. and of course, us Americans just eat it up, we always have to have something no one one does, doh

so don't fret, just order a 9100 outfitted as you want it, it'll be no different than an XPS is you pick the 3.4 and WUXGA screen, though with a 9100 are not stuck with the most expensive options, you can build to suite you

This sounds right. I've looked around a few international sites, and the 9100 can be set up with all the xps stuff. I'm planning on waiting a bit before moving up to a better rig. Either something with pci-e or something with the ati9800 in it when pci-e forces the prices down. The Sager/Eurocom unit will be out in a month or so and Dell and the others will probably have something by the end of the year. So far, Dell has the best warrantee and that's what did it for me last time. I'm sure they will ship to ukraine, though I'd go with a courier instead of the post.

hey man, where in the ukraine are you? I know Kharkov pretty well.
Anyway, it's true, the the XPS isn't anything different than the 9100 with the right config. I'm in Austria and just ordered a 9100 a few days after the 9800 ati chip was available, which was surprisingly pretty much at the same time it was out in the US.
I have everything in my machine that you would get with an XPS, except for the cover which I don't care much for anyway.
I don't know which Dell Department is responsible for Ukraine, for Austria its the one in Bratislava. If you can figure out where to go to, I would recommend to get a dell sales rep on the phone and make your config and order on the phone. I got a much better price than online that way.
good luck

I'm in Odessa. I come here when I get my time off from working in Yemen. I have a 5 week on/5 week off, shift. Instead of heading all the way back to Canada, I come to Odessa. I love it here. Never been to Kharkov. Was in Kyiv a few days but like it down here on the coast better. I'd love to know when Dell and the rest are going to go pci-e. This old unit handles any of the pre-new games, (farcry, D3, etc.), so I don't mind waiting a bit.

On the Sager general forum, they are looking at a release date of Nov 8. Eurocom, (i guess they're made by the same folks who do Sager), will let you go on their canadian site and configure one to suit your needs. I tried that and came up with around $4800 can, (3700 us), with a 17"screen, 40gbhd, dvd-rw, wilan, bluetooth, winxp pro, 256gb nvidia pci-e card (supposed to be the gforce 6800 go, but that might change), and a 3 year warrantee. That's only one month away. Dell and AlienWare might be a few months behind that. It's hard to separate the rumours from fact in here, but no news at all about Dell and AW. Good news is that if pci-e units are too expensive, the release will probably drive down prices for the hi end agp laptops. It's all good....except the waiting.....just like Half Life 2.
