What kind of service is this ? Story of an unhappy customer

Long story short, I wanted to exchange my 8 cell battery I got with my 700m for 2x 4 cell bat. In my first email I got from Dell Customer Service (CS) I was told that I was still in my 30 days and if I wanted to do so I would just have to call CS witch I did. Then I was told that I could not exchange and then came to the conclusion that the only way I could get 2 4 cell batts was to cancel everything, ship back my 700m and order a new one with 2 4 cell instead of the one 8 cell !!

I’ve tried everything, called CS several time only to ear the same thing “Sorry we can’t exchange your 8 cell battery for 2 4 cells”

This is nuts !! I’ve done a lot of online shopping and this is the first time a company does not want me to exchange a product !!

I love my 700m but this is the last time I buy Dell ! And I make sure to tell every one I know.

I'm not sure I understand your frustration. Did you originally order an 8 cell and get 2 four cells instead? If so, tell Dell this and demand for an exchange. If not, there's no reason Dell would want to exchange the priduct. It's not about Dell not wanting do it.

I ordered an 8 cell and did get it. But now i would like to exchange it for 2 4 cell.
All the store i know of, including online and including Dell have a 30 day money back but for some reason the only way to get my 2 4 cell batts is to return my 700m !

All i want is to exchange my 8 cell !

And btw a online store like Dell should expect this kinda things coz there's no store, not here in Montreal, where i can go see the products and make a choice, and i was told befor the sell that if i wanted to i could change my mind, but now not.

Is the cost of 2 4-cell batteries more than the cost of 1 8-cell battery? If that's the case, then no, Dell has every right to not exchange them; I wouldn't either. If not, even still, I wouldn't think Dell would do something like that. Looks like your only chance is to return the lappy and buy it again with the batteries you want. Their 30-day return policy/money back guarantee doesn't cover exchanges of parts, as far as I know.

1 8 cell don't = 2 4 cell. You could have asked to exchange ur 8 cell for a 4 cell then get credit back the difference which is 60 then buy another 4 cell for 99 so you just pay 40 bucks more

WTF - these are forums to discuss the notebook themselves - i left the dell forums because the "conversation" turned to garbage - people dropping by for a hit and run with their sad tales of dell's wrongdoing. dell does make mistakes - a whole lot of them, but this isnt the place to come in and do it. you do realize 95% of the people here already own notebooks, so, just to be blunt - not mean - nobody gives a rat's ass about your story. sorry about that blunt remark but its been a long week. let's not turn this technical forum into another sobfest. this is a great forum and i would hate to see it go down the hole like the dell forums. btw there is a customer care board over there that WILL get you results - if you post here you will only get annoyed glares.

Meh, I thought that was a little harsh, but the point still applies. Try calling Dell again and see if anything works out. If there's no practical reason to have two 4-cells, then stick with the 8.

I am sure that had you ordered one battery and wanted to return it for two batteries Dell would work with you, however you did not order a battery, you ordered a laptop and Dell is more than happy to let you return your laptop, however they do not allow the exchange of components.

In a perfect world they would, and if you talk to the right person, the right way I am sure you can get this sorted out, however after reading your original post I am not sure you are capable of doing this.

ericxoxp, it's like asking dell to exchange your 80GB hard drive for (2) 40's, and in all honesty it's not profitable for them to do so. Maybe if you were to offer to pay the difference a CS rep. would be willing to go the extra mile. Your tone of voice also determines the outcome in most cases.

The bottom line is that you received exactly what you ordered, and now you are upset that you cannot get a "freebie" out of the deal. To make things worse you threaten to "slander" Dell to your friends and family, lol. Grow up!
