First, I have no problems reading CD-R's, CD-RW's or DVD's. I can not get the Toshiba SD-R2412 to reconize a blank CD. I have tried several brand CD-R's including Imation, Memorex, Digital Research and HP. Today, I bought Maxell CD-R Pro CD's thinking this has to be among the best! But, it just will not write.
The symptons are that when I put a blank CD-R in the drive, it attempts to seat properly. The little amber light on the drive flashes for about 45 seconds to a minute while the CD occilates in a back and forth manner. After that the amber light stays on and nothing happens. When I attempt to write to the CD using the Nero Express software, it says insert a CD. When I run the CD Speed utility everything is grayed out. When I run the Windows XP CD burning wizard, it also says insert a CD. Of course, I open the tray and push it back in each time. I have also attempted to write to a CD-RW and the symptoms are the same.
One last thing, I have never been able to burn a CD since I received the 8887-V. So, it's not like I have added new software or drivers to cause the problem.
Any suggestions?
