am i missing something, or has sager stopped updating drivers for the 8890. the new omegas state that sager has released a bios update, but on our support page i don't see ANY bios updates, not even a mention of it. and on the 8790 driver page, they have much more recent versions of the ati drivers, PLUS a mention about a new bios, although i can't locate their bios.

if sager is not going to update their product support page, i will not be a happy camper. please shed some light so idont get the wrong impression

Maybe an email to PCT or Sager might be in line?

that's the problem though, i can't use the new omega's because the video playback locks the machine. i am stuck using the 2.5.44 drivers. supposedly sager released a bios update that will allow me to use the new drivers, but they neglected to offer the update for my < 1 year old notebook!

I'm feeling your pain. When I bought this notebook, it was the biggest baddest thing on the block. Now we have been left in the dust. Thrown in to the Archives. Sager doesn’t seem to care about us anymore, they have a new favorite child. After spending as much money as I did on this thing I genuinely feel insulted by this. For those of you still wondering what where talking about, Here's the clip from the notes on Omegas latest drivers.

Important Notes:

1. Well, at last, the fix for the dreaded overlay video bug has been found. The cause IS NOT the ATI drivers or any of my settings, the cause is a hardware bug, more specifically a BIOS bug. In the testing, two people already updated their Sager notebooks with a new BIOS provided by Sager and the video problem is GONE! So I encourage you to go to your manufacturer's web page and see if a new bios update has been issued for your laptop, and if not, e-mail the manufacturer so they can rush out a fix for this.

So we need a BIOS update, and I heard somewhere that Clevo is the one that take's care of that. Unfortunately Clevo hasn't even updated the drivers for there version of our machine for almost a year. So I think that they forgot about us. But then again maybe I'm wrong, maybe Sager is working hard to correct this and the fix is just around the corner. Have Faith, In Sager we trust!(I guess).

I am personally working with Sager to try to get them to re do the 8890 BIOS since it does appear that this is a BIOS issue and not a driver issue.

Hope you are successful Luke! The response I got from tech suport was "we did not see NP8890 have DVD play back problem. What is the problem on your computer? Which version of the ATI video driver did you install?"

They are now checking with their R&D personnel.........
