M505X CPU upgrade to Dothan?

I'd like to know if anyone has done this. I heard early Dothan 2.0Ghz would work, but I got confused with the new Intel CPU numbering scheme. So could anyone actually tell me where I can buy a compatible CPU? Any further info is appreciated!

From a CNET Article: "You can upgrade the cpu from a Banias to a Dothan in the Compaq -- the current 1.4 Pentium M to 2.0 Pentium M all use the same socket architecture." (http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7587-0....ssageID=373261)

I looked into putting a 1.7 Banias into a M505x. Anyway I'll tell you that it is just a major pain in the butt to get to the CPU. The Heatsync is as such were you have to remove the LCD, keyboard, and the top of the main computer assembly to remove it. I can do it but it got quite anoying so I gave up on it and sold the CPU. It should be possible Donthan fyi is pin compatable and bus speed is the same. Also Donthan SHOULD work on the chipset but of course I don't know of anyone who has done it.

ai42, what brand of 1GB stick do you use on your Gateway M505X? I want to upgrade my Gateway M505XL to 2GB as well.
