3790 low audio output

Thread Starter
I just received my new 3790 from PC Torque and I love it. All of your posts helped out a lot in this decision. One possible problem I noted is that on some DVD discs the audio is barely discernable out of the internal speakers and on others it is fine. Is this a driver issue or what?
Thanks,
Alan

Sound is not a strong feature of the 3790. I installed new drivers and seemed to help some but I do wish I could get a little more volume out of them. Most of the time they are fine with the new drivers but I don’t listen too much on my laptop or if I do I use external speakers.

Could you point me to the new drivers you are referring to so I can give them a go?

the stuff that's too quiet is problem with the video, i've came across a couple so far... there are some audio boosting apps that would help... but generally the 3790 outputs decent volume just not enuf bass

Ressurecting a dead thread here, but I'm having the same issue, I've grabed the A3.64 audio drivers from the realtek website, but the audio output is extremely quiet on speakers, and still fairly low on headphones. Does anyone have suggestions? (Yes, volume is cranked)

I bought my 3790 about a month ago and the sound card pretty much made me depressed by basically overshadowing all the other good qualities. It's weird that they would make such a nice laptop and just skimp out on something so important like sound quality. Best bet is to just buy an external usb sound card. I tried out my roommate's turtle beach audio advantage (~$25-$30) and my speakers were bumpin' as they once were...for 15 min =( UNLESS someone else out there knows if there's another option...cause I've searched the forum and no one it seems has any other option other than spendin' a lil more cash...

I feel your pain. The only two things I don't like about my 3790 is the sound and the weak plastic behind the screen. Everything else works as advertised.... bluetooth, wireless, nice screen, dvd's, games, etc. I don't think it gets too hot and I'm left handed. But I wish the plastic behind the screen was a little stronger. Too much weight on the square sager emblem and snap! (maybe). I can still return mine. If I keep it I'll definately get a sound card and some portable speakers... That means having a usb hub also because you might not have access to the 2 usb ports below the pcmcia slot. I have a large shinza sleeve but I'm still looking for a decent backpack for it.

Don't forget about the USB port on the right-side by the serial port...

I'm looking at
1. terratec Aureon 5.1 usb sound card
2. Echo Indigo PCMCIA
3. The Creative 5.1 PCMCIA

I'm leaning towards one of the echo indigo's. Any suggestions on portable speakers?

I got the Sonic Impact Portable Speakers/CD Case today at Target on sale for $14.98. They sound ok for what they are I guess. I'll use them when I have to travel light.
