Cracking and LCD issues

Hey all,
I've had my 5690 for 4 1/2 months now, and I just developed a crack near the screen hinge, running from the bottom right rubber piece, horizontally to the separation. Now, whenever I close and open the screen the bottom right pops out a little bit.

Additionally, my screen seems to have 2 darkened lines near the top right -- the pixels work but it looks like dirt, although its below the screen. Both are about 10 pixels long and 1-2 wide, and are noticable with a white screen.
There is a stuck pixel and dead pixel anyway, but this has been there since I got the laptop. (UXGA screen)

I assume the warranty covers this stuff? Can I send it in to get a new screen? Also, how long does it take to repair the computer, since I would need my laptop back very quickly (need to use it daily at college, would try to go a few days without it)

Thanks.

The case cracking is common in the 56xx series. So too it seems is the bruising. If you send in the laptop depending on shipping they havea 48hr turn around time if all needed parts are in stock. As to the display the will say it's scratched. Even though it's not. My hunch is that there is grit between the polarizer and the glass causing it to show as a dark spot/line. Mine has this as well. If your handy and don't mind signing a waiver I think they would send you the housing to swap out on your own. The cracks will return though just depends on when.

Any chance they'd be willing, instead, to send me a new screen (of course, take down credit card info and everything) and have me put it on and send back the damaged screen? I've done this for dead hard drives before and it worked out well.

It's worth an email to ask, but I would doubt they would, since the LCD is quite a bit more delicate than a HDD, and to repace the LCD and "top housing" would be much more dissassembly/reassembly work than taking out the HDD.
