Just got my M6810

I just picked one up from Best Buy yesterday. So far, i'm extremely dissapointed in the quality. As soon as i turned it on there are atleast 2 dead pixels, and one that kinda comes and goes right in the middle of the screen. Also, after only one day, the hinge has cracked. So, i'm about to leave and head back up to best buy to exchange it.

My question though, should there be bad pixels on a brand new laptop?

I am extremely surprised with the power of the M6810 though. I scored 9128 out of the box on 3dmark01, and after installing the newest Omega drivers i scored 9500. Then, i overclocked it to 400/225 and scored 11515.

i was just wondering, how quickly are you opening it? i have only owned my m6810 for 2weeks. but because of the crack Warnings i open the screen slowly. my screen is tight! and i feel that opening it quickly just adds to the stress of the hinges.. but who knows mine will probably break also. im just trying to avoid a weeks downtime by sending it in. 8(

It is possible to get bad pixels on a new laptop, because of allowances in manufacturing process to keep costs of LCDs down.

Hey 350F. When you boot can you do me a favor and go into your BIOS and write down the version and post or private message me your version please? We know that there is a newer bios out there then that came on the M6811's and since the M6810 is a "new model" by release date not specs there is a chance your brand spankin new one might have the bios that could save all of us.

Right now with any Catalyst drivers newer then 4.3 any kind of video player back on M68xx laptops will cause instant lockups and require a cold boot. The issue has been tracked to the laptops BIOS and the M6811's bios isn't new enough. I would much apperciate your bios version number and rev.

Thank you! Do you know if this resolves the video lockup problem? Oh and I might be able to get you the 04 in a few days. Someone is going through the process of backing theirs up and I'm on the list to get it.

According to the author of Omega drivers in the readme, the lock up problem some people experience has been discovered to be a hardware problem, not software. Perhaps I am just lucky, but I have yet ot experience it in the 4 months I have owned mine. Some manufacturers have already released a BIOS to fix the problem.

Your bios must be the one that has the fix.

I have never had the problem since buying the notebook. 0f05.p00 is what I started with.
