Hey guys! I'm new here.
(specs in sig)
Whenever I play games, such as Battlefield 1942, the framerates are smooth as silk at the highest settings!
But every few minutes, I get MASSIVE slow-down. The framerate drops somewhere around 15-20 fps. Completely unacceptable.
It does this with EVERY game, no matter how high I have the graphics!
I turned UT2004 to 800x600, ALL settings on the LOWEST and it STILL did it!
What could be the problem?
I am running the standard Toshiba drivers for the ATi chipset. I tried the "Mobility Modder" but it took away my D3D support, leaving me with only OpenGL.
I also tried the Omega Drivers, but that created weird texture problems. I think I might try to install them again, just to see if it was a fluke.
Any suggestions? I just upgrade my RAM today from 512 to 1024 and the problem still happens.
I also ruled out an overheating problem because I have the laptop propped on books (giving the fans PLENTY of air) and the problems still occur. I think it must be the drivers.
Thanks for any help!
-Brian
