Athough I did make a set of restore disks for the heck of it, I didn't use them... nor would I recommend that you do. The Vaio comes loaded with a slew of crap that you don't want. There's nothing better than clean installing WinXp (w/ SP2 slipstreamed if you can), using the latest drivers from Sony, and installing individual apps as needed. The restore disks do, however, give you the option of selecting individual programs installations (if I remember correctly)... so for that purpose, they might help you. Again though, I noticed a decent speed improvement by doing the clean install. Then again, it coulda had something to do with the 4200rpm --> 7200 rpm upgrade... and the new RAM... etc..
