Issue with Wireless signal

Hi guys!

I just got a new Prostar 8794 with an 802.11g Turbo 108Mbps Mini PCI wireless card. So far I've tried to access 2 different wireless networks (2 different cafes, other users at both using the network just fine), but I simply can not get a strong enough signal. I am new to wireless, but I am aware of the Fn-F11 key to activate the card. I actually can see the network in the G-Ezlink utility, but it keeps dropping out. Windows XP repair option didn't help either.

I read somewhere on these forums about moving some wire on the card to get better results, but have never removed a laptop HD before, so I am a little weary.

Any ideas would be rock!

There was a thread about the 8790's (What to do) that illustrated swapping a cable connection on the WiFi Card. Some of the units were wired/connected incorrectly.

Also try turning the "turbo mode" off.

Gotcha, but I can't find where to disable turbo. It isn't covered in the manual.

As far as trying the wire change method from a previous post... The 8794 looks exactly the same as that Sager model, so it's safe to assume it might be the same issue?

got it!

Just thought I'd let anyone who is curious know:

I went ahead and removed the hard disk cover. I then peeled back some foam to expose the WiFi card. A very small black wire need to be moved from one little metal slot, to the other on the right.

WiFI works excellent now!!!!
