HP Pavillion XH485 cold cathode lamp

I have the laptop described in the subject and either the cold cathode lamp is burned out or the inverter is no longer working. In any case the screen is dark. I am trying to order a new lamp but I don't know what type to buy or where I can find it. I've measured the bulb and it's roughly 2mm x 308 mm. Does anyone know where I can find this lamp? I've tried digikey.com I can't find a bulb with those dimensions there.

Thanks for any help.

most of these bulbs arent propietary for the screens.. A standard 2mm bulb.. from the same dimension screen will generally work. I repaired a newer Z1A sony screen last week, (backlight blew).. With a tube from a compaq 1200US screen.. Worked excellent, Saved the guy 500.00. (Sony told him he had to replace the screen).. www.ikenfixit.com

Thanks. How can I be sure it's the bulb and not the inverter?

Inverter is the first thing to check. If you have a screen laying around with a known good backlight you can plug in the cathode and fire it up.. This is th easiest..I have an HV probe that conects to the DVM to check output voltage. (Dont try and do this w/standard Meter0.. Unless it rated for 2k AC..Yours must be a 15? I may have an inverter here. Have to dig.. www.ikenfixit.com
