Help Me!

I want someone professional to go over with me through the multimedia differences between the upcomming 8890 and the upcomming GRT190G. Ie...TV Tuner, DVD/CD Reader, Writer, ReWriter. Sony claim that they have to notch multimedia elements which include, Click to DVD™ software and the unit's dual format DVD±RW drive, UXGA display with Sony's new XBRITE™ technology, and Giga Pocket, users can not only watch live TV but also record their favorite programs to watch later, it also turns mono sources to digital surround sound, also the sony is equipped with a photo and music management and video editing software. Very tempting options!

If those things I mentioned above can be included with the 8890 then i'll seriously get it, but the sony's feaurures are so tempting, so that's why i'm having such a tough time to make my final decision.

Will the sony be powerful enough for gaming??? I highly doubt it....Maybe the 8890 has all those options of the sony, who knows??? If someone can reply it would be great....Thanks!!!

comparing the new Sony and the 8890

Hello Ziad.. a few things.... first, it is very difficult to make comparisons to a product that is not slated to arrive until the end of july/beginning of August... second, some of the technologies you mention about the Sony are PROPRIETARY to Sony... GigaPocket, Click to DVD, their new lcd screen... these will not be in the 8890.... The only real info. available on the 8890 is posted here in the news section and also the Eurocom site (under future models).. there is no other info.... As far as raw power goes, the Sony won't be able to compete with the 8890.. The CPU, FSB, GPU, RAID HD configuration and amount of memory.... the 8890 will smoke it... just look at the specs on eurocom... also, the 8890 will be highly upgradeable while the Sony will not be... the only definite thing that the Sony will have that the 8890 won't is the new lcd screen.. everything else will have to wait until more information comes out on the 8890... being patient is tough but what has been posted here is all the info. that anyone has on the 8890... your choice is to either go out and buy the Sony if it meets your needs or wait and see what the 8890 has to offer when there is more info....

If your looking to do anything with video, then get the 8890, you will need RAID and the fastest available processors, memory and bus. You can buy an external video capture device if you need to. It would be a good idea to get a DVD±R drive, because it is not sure which format will be the best in the future, but a DVD-R would be alright too.

It should be noted too that everything that Sony has (click to DVD, etc.) can all be done on your own with software that is already out there, and often for really cheap or even free. All sony does is make it easier with just one button.

Thanks for the Advice Guys!

I'm just hoping that the 8890 would have a good tv tuner with DV-R. I'm also oping that the +- Burner would be offered. Does the sony have the video capture internally? CAnyway, thanks again for the advice.
