Do any of you Alienware owners regret buying an Alienware, from what I've seen most AW owners wouldnt give it up for anything, but I am just curious because prospects of me becoming an AW owner looks very good right now (I am leaning more towards AW than Dell... the only thing holding me back is the $500 extra for the same system)

I thought I would have some regrets but after having it since May and owning 3 dell laptops in the past and using HP laptops at work - No regrets even thou we get bashed all the time, I have to say this is a solid built laptop of magnesium compared to the plastic build quality of my Dells.

The more I hear the more the extra $500 sounds worth it, especially with AlienRespawn and AlienAutopsy

I thought I was going to cancel waiting to get the good ol lappy but when I fired the lappy up all I could say is sweet!!!!

I tell ya once I had a AW I will never go back to all the other POS's out there.

Not for a single second. And like inxsdragon said, i absolutely love the magnesium case. This thing feels so damn solid, much more than any plastic laptop ive felt. And AlienRespawn is awesome too.

nope, couldn't be happier

Dell is good gear. But, there are just so many qualities to the alienware that make it better. I do not regret any decision regarding this alienware. Unless of course they don't produce anymore upgrades for this thing, then I will probalby wish I had waited! If they doo, awsome!

I regret not buying the 3 year warranty....

No regrets here, I have owned a Sony laptop in the past, and I currently have a Dell desktop. My AW is by far the best computer I have ever owned.

Only things I regret:

1. Not getting the ATI 9700
2. Not getting 1GB RAM
3. Not getting the 3.2 or 3.4ghz

Good thing is that numbers 2 and 3 are upgradeable. Number 1....

AW has it's good points, but Dells' got it all over AW when it comes to performance and longevity.Like I've said before, "If you want to win fashion shows,AWs' your machine".And that "AlienRespawn" is just an expensive image cd anyone can make with Norton Ghost... btw: it just doubled in price 2 weeks ago.You also have to pay $50.00 extra now for any other color besides green(whats up with the damn price hikes AW)?? And Dell offers an image cd free with the XPS(and all other notebooks for that matter) if thats important to you.

Not knocking AW. Just enlightening is all. What you see below in my sig was $200.00 cheaper than a lesser area-51m(P4 3.2, go5700 w/128mb, 40gb 72k hdd, WSXGA+).

The proofs' in the pudding bro.

words of wisdom from a fifth grade grad ... ha!

Well I believe they were trying to unload their green's probably because more people actully choose the blue and silver. but if you look now, they are only charging extra for the silver. Overall however the prices for the alienware51m notebooks have been dropping over the past week or two. From the time that I ordered my notebook on the 23rd of sept. I've gotten 2 price reductions, one for $32 and one for $55. On top of that I also was able to get my proc upgraded from 3.2 to a 3.4. So yeah the prices are dropping.

Well I would never get an XPS, just because of how bulky it is. I'd rather end up getting an ALX or a 51 Extreme. I have no regrets on getting my alienware, except the 1 Gig of ram I shoulda gotten... oh well..
