Coming soon. See Creative's Audigy 2 ZS Notebook PCMCIA card on their website. Appears to support SPDIF.

When will this be available?

it looks like it's not going to be flush with the side of the laptop.

That's not a realistic expectation anyway. The PCMCIA slot is very narrow. There's no way to fit any of the needed connectors in that tiny crossection.

Ordered the Echo Indigo I/O before I saw this (waiting for me at home right now, can't wait to get "off the road"). Anyway, for a non-musician user like myself, it would appear that the "bloatware" (software) included with the Audigy 2 would be better geared towards me than that with the Echo (not to mention the SPDIF support on the Audigy 2). Also have an Audigy 2 on my home workstation.

Echo Indigo supports SPDIF, doesn't it? And the card will work just fine without Creative's bloat. Most of it is useless audio editing crap. The actual drivesr are pretty good.

Hi johnston21,

quick question. I am planning to buy a PCMCIA sound card to keep processor load low on my notebook. Since I found your posting on this forum, I thought you might be able to share some of your experience with the ECHO Indigo I/O card. I need a solution to record my old vinyl record to burn them to CD later - have you used your ECHO Indigo for the like tasks, or do you know of somebody who has?

Greetings from foggy Frankfurt/Germany.

anybody has any idea about what kind of headphone comes with this package? all they say is premium quality. is it 5.1 headphone?
i'm prety sure it's not. i mean it's 120$. what kind of premium quality headphones cost less than $100? the headphones are just dust in our eyes. something you can trash around probably.

I have yet to use the Echo Indigo IO for this task.

I use Pinnacle's Clean Plus 4.0 to restore vinyl to disk, which could be used with the Indigo IO.

Check out the support forum for this product. I know on the v4.0, the Left & Right jacks were reversed.

From the specification the PCMCIA seems a bit better and it will probably be less of a stress on the cpu... Other then that, it doesn't seems to be very different.

one less thing for me to carry around.. hard to lug around an hdd enclosure and a dvd burner enclosure.

i bet these will go for something like $70 after rebates from either staples, office depot, or officemax... gonna wait on those good deals and grab me one of these.

You could with a dongle...

That has nothing to do with it. The guy expected a card that didnt stick out from the side of the laptop. A dongle sticks out, even more so than the Indigo card we were talking about.
