Though it might be hard to read, the stats on the AMD64 notebook are:

3400+ Athlon, 1 GB DDR SDRAM, 80 GB harddrive(7,200 rpm)

Sweeeeeeeeet.

Wait a second...

JESUS CHRIST. 512 MB VRAM. Doth mine eyes deceive me?

For those who can't read it:

Athlon 64 3400+, 1 GB DDR SDRAM, 60 GB hard drive (7,200 RPM), and an ATi Mobility Radeon X800 (512 MB VRAM)

That was against this:

3 GHz Pentium 4, 1 GB DDR SDRAM, 60 GB hard drive (7,200 RPM) NVidia GeForce Go6800 (256 MB VRAM)

Either it's a typo, or...wow. I think that would make it the first domestic graphics card with 512 MB of RAM.

Yea, that's gotta be total BS. 512 vRAM? cmon, even the desktop version of the X800 PE doesn't have that. And a laptop does? No. Something's wrong

unless... I just thought... what if it's somehow using TWO gfx cards? such as the nvidia SLI technology boasts. eh?
Two graphics cards in a notebook? Please. Enough people complain about the weight of the 9860. Besides, it wouldn't be losing marks in any shader-intensive game (Doom 3) to a single GPU.

I'm thinking that it's a typo.

unless they doing what they did with the ATI 9700 on the 8790....
they just some how slapped more ram on it without realling taking the time to really test it out....
Aye, that's a possibility. It would still be kind of cool, of course, since that would mean a card that can actually support things like Doom 3's Ultra graphics setting properly.

Since they've not even done this, as another poster mentioned, with the ATi Radeon x800 XT Platinum Edition, however, I'm fairly certain that it's a typo. I don't think ATi's going to let mobile graphics slip past desktop graphics.

I doubt I could afford an AMD 64 notebook w/ 512MB M28 GPU anyway... And the Arima Low Power Athlon 64 notebook with M26/128MB GPU looks nice enough. Though hopefully it will come with several battery options. I would take the extra weight and bulk for double the battery life, 12 instead of 6 cell. http://www.arima.com.tw/ViewProduct.asp?View=130

Aye, that does look pretty nice, particularly for my needs. Desktop replacements are nice, but I'll take a GeForce 6600 Mobility, or even a Radeon x600 Mobility, if it means four to five hours of battery life for word processing (classes). That's what I really want. A nice, powerful laptop with good battery life, particularly if it means an upgradeable GPU.

That's why I realize I probably wouldn't be able to get a GeForce 6800 or Radeon Mobility x800, since they're probably not going to be selling Lancaster notebooks with 'em. A pity. :-/

Here's to an AMD 9860 and 3790 clone! Especially if the first of those has a 512 MB x800.

The article also says that the shipping version of the x800 will only have 256 MGg of ram when it comes out in notebooks next year. Maybe a 512 version will be the Platnum card. Well in any case i'm glad it's comming out.

My question for you all is, where does one purchase arima laptops?

Arima is a Taiwanese ODM manufacturer like Clevo, Uniwill or Compal. Resellers buy their barebones and sell them under their company name (like Sager).
Here is a list of resellers who sell Arima barebones (search for Arima W730-K8):
