Why doesn't someone just call them up and ask?
That would be a good idea lmao. Too bad mine is covered... perhaps AW just got lazy and stopped covering them?
I'll call on Monday and ask if mine has one (it ships next week) and if it does how to use it)

well its true, my notebook also came with the tv tuner.

Z, are you saying that it came with a tv tuner card, or the ability to plug in an external tv tuner? I'm assuming the ladder, but just want to double check.
I have an s-video on one side, and other connection with a tv over it on the other. the actual tv tuner is a small box with all the various connection that would be needed to connect to like an antenna or cable. i'll take a pic of it when i get home and put it up for everyone to see.

Mine came with exact same configuration. S-Video (yellow) on one side and TV-IN port on the other. I received a TV Tuner unit that connects to the TV-IN port. The unit has S-Video, Red, White, Yellow, and COAX connectors. It came with TV-Tuner software to watch and/or capture TV stations. I received my laptop on 21 Oct.

Did you get the external tuner with your laptop or did you purchase it separately? Also, what is the model/name of the TV tuner? Thanks!

Did not order it seperately. It is a Prolink PV-TV303P+

I dont think anyone ordered the 'external tuner', infact, I dont recall seeing it as even an option and I still dont see it in the gear shop.

Haven't quite gotten my laptop yet (its on its way), so not sure if mine will have it or not (pretty sure it will tho comin from everything i've read on the forums), will mention it either way in a possible review when I do get mine in.

hmmm...did a search on it, found the company's website, and they dont seem to have it (anymore), so my guess is its a discontinued item and they sold/gave their inventory to Alienware for dirt-cheap, and so AW is just givin them away with their systems... thats my guess.

tv works on mine

hi guys, mine came with the tv tuner as well. it is an external tuner that plus in on the right side of the laptop. it also has a dongle that you can use without the tuner for connecting composite or a usb device. all the drivers for it were installed already, the only thing that was not installed was the WinTV encoder software that you should have got with the laptop. it is not preinstalled. it even says in the alienware instruction manual that you have to manually install the software yourself.

anyways, here is the info you need to get it to run:

Model: Prolink PV-TV303P+
Software: WinTV Encoder
Hardware Drivers: Conexant 2388x (listed as a sound, video and game controller)

hope this helps.
