Thermal Paste

Whenever you guys remove the heatsink off your processor, do you always clean and re-paste with AS? The reason I ask is a couple of weeks ago I was troubleshooting a system issue and I thought it was my processor. However I later found out it was my Video Card. So, I replaced the heatsink and now my computer runs about 8 - 10 degrees hotter than it had been in the past.

Did you get a good but thin layer of AS on? If you didn't put enough or if you put too much that could happen. And did you get a new heatsink for the video card or did you just put the old one back on with AS as the interface material? If you used the old one, make sure you cleaned all the old interface material off before putting on the AS.
