Flickering/Fading screen

Hey, i just recieved my 3790 an hour ago. i was going through the whole setup procedure and all, when the screen sorta started to flicker and fade in and out, and distort colors and stuff. I'm not the most proficient computer person, and im assuming theres nothing i can do about this but send it back. Does anyone know of anything else i can try first? thanks.

Yes, I have this problem frequently when I have installed an ATI driver which my 8887 has a problem with. I've had some success with the OMEGA drivers version 2.5.44, but I've just visited the Omega site and there appears to be a fix for the later drivers by updating the bios...which I'm on the hunt for now. Apparently the bug with the later ATI drivers was not in the ATI driver but in the bios. Hope you find this helpful, I know how it sucks not to be able to upgrade your drivers when you need to because they don't work as intended.

Not sure which part of the setup procedure you are at, or which drivers you are using, but checking video drivers until you get one that works, may get you past this.

Good luck! BTW, I've had my 8887 for more than 2 years and with the exception of this video problem, I love it.

hey, when this was happening was when the computer was right outta the box connected to the AC power. after i shut it down and let it charge for a while, the screen was fine. maybe it was just cause it had almost zero battery charge. im still keeping an eye on it, ill report back if i have any more screen problems. right now im having worse problems. see my other post.
