did they fix that problem with Sager 5690? does echo indigo work with Sager 5690?

you want 2 channel stereo? get Echo Indigo!

want 5.1-7.1 gaming/movies? get Creative!

but IMHO normal ears won't be able to tell the audio difference anyway! it all depends if your ears are trained and what hardware do you have! speakers/headphones!

One thing I don't like about creative is that they don't have the hardware volume control like echo, which is very very handy thing!

*edit*

oh yea there is one more thing that I don't like about creative, that is - the 3.5mm connectors aren't on the sides like echo has! which would be more convenient(sp?)

Cons: External Speakers needed, if on batteries, all the devices LIKE power!
Pro's: Awesome sound, Now you Truely have a Desktop replacement, if card removed AC 97 sound will take back over.

This question is directed to gsferrari, I have a 2 speaker and amp set up for my dorm room, I was wondering if it would be better for me to run a cable from the amp into an echo indigo, or the NZ mobile into my laptop, OR, running it straight into my laptop, will it make much of a difference?
Should I just go for echo indigo because I don't have a surround sound system?
Or will the creative nz improve the stereo sound as well

Ok, got mine yesterday from mwave.com and this thing is great. You can use speakers or headphones wether youre a/c or d/c it works great!!! It includes a mini-docking station for multiple speakers (if you ever need them). The virtual surround on headphones renders external speakers unnecesary, specially for us mobile phreaks. This thing is loud as hell, and the bass it pumps out is just perfect. The incl. headphones are high quality shit, unlike other bundled hp that sound like crap. Bought it with gaming in mind, currently playing WoW, EQ2 and UT2K4 and its a sweet orgasm!! Stop reading, go buy one!!

forfor 2.1-> 5.1 or 7.1 sound there is a dongle cord. I use a 2.1 setup as you saw, What I meant by power consumption, if your on batteries please remember the INTERNAL wireless card, and the pcmcia card will SUCK up battery life. that was all. as for AC or DC power it doesn't matter.
again, when the pcmcia card is inserted it takes over for all the sound, But if removed the onboard ac 97 takes over.

Umm perfomance wise, I've noticed Very little,if any, but I'll learn more this weekend when I play like a mofo for hours on end! I play UT2K4 Mainly.

The Sticker: I copied it off the ut2K4 site and printed it up.

I've been having a problem with sound-effects being dropped or broken in certain games using EAX 4.0. Let me know, Warden, if you notice anything similar.
oh yea, you said that, when the pcmia card is inserted, it disables the AC'97. When it does that, does it also produce sound through the laptop's built in speakers? Or does it only produce sound through its ports.

What I mean is: Can we still use our BUILT IN laptop speakers with the pcmia card INSERTED?
you have to go to sound properties [right click the little speaker in the taskbar and go to "Adjust Audio Properties". When that window comes up click on "Audio" and you can choose between the realtek audio and the SoundBlaster.

1) It doesn't 'disable' the AC97, it merely makes the default sound device the PCMICA card.

2) No.
i just need to get this straight.

if the card is inserted and you use the laptop's own speakers, the AC 97 will still be the one working even if you select the audigy as the default driver?
Yes. The only way would be to probably route the Audigy output to the AC97 input, which would be noisy.

There MIGHT be a way to tweak the audio routing with some 3rd party utilities but I've never done it.

This product sounds quite interesting - only draw back is the requirement to use external speakers. If my laptop is sitting on my desk, that is not an issue, but it is 95% of the time in areas where having external speakers creates a problem.

Does the Echo Indigo use the systems internal speakers?

Such a shame to finally get some good quality sound, but it would have been nicer to have options on using internal, external or headphones.

Interesting note - I see the Indigo has been discontinued. Hmmmm. ??

I use the HD 3d sound in UT2K4, I only use a 2.1 setup. I'll give the EAX a shot later, I believe the EAX also eats FPS .

if anyone else has one and has problems you need to tell us what game, for eg. I no longer have Doom3 installed, HL2 is on desktop, Q3 is on laptop, UT2K4 is on both.

What's wrong with using headphones? Even if the soundcard were terrific, internal speakers can only do so much on a laptop...

Sorry for the stupid question but...

For any who have it, does your Audigy 2 ZS Notebook show up in Device Manager as a "Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM)"? The ZS card is just an incremental update to the original Audigy 2, right?
