8886ers, get these drivers now!

In case you didn't get a chance to see it in the other forums,
I just downloaded new 6218 drivers from www.s-seven.net and they installed like a charm.

Ran 3DMark and got a 6922, about a 100 pts higher than before.

Then I ran Powerstrip to o'c my core to 260 (from 250) and my mem to 180 (from 170). Got 7209.

I had never been able to o'c my R9K before the new drivers. even w/ a move like that I got lines on my screen... but not now for some reason.

Dude named 'spire' posted these urls. Thanks a bunch. I'd be interested in finding out if you could add a core heatsink and/or memory heatsinks to the R9K in the 8886.

Hey, adding over 400 pts could make a dif in a game like Morrowind or GTA3

That's excellent to hear! I will download them and run a review of them in my review later :-)

Works on 5660 too

This is cool. My score on my 5660 was 7002 with the original drivers. After I got the new ones, it is 7140. The installation went fine except XP complained that the drivers weren't MS certified.

dgantony.

these drivers boosted me more than 100 points (i think around 6930 now, maybe i should write something down) but then powerstrip did not seem to do anything happy. i set the o'c values too high and when i brought them back down to normal i still got lines, had to reboot.. maybe i will try to bump them up. still this is a good driver improvement!

I would recommend taking the clock speeds down to default before installing a driver... although in my case it took them down to default for me :-)

i did not overclock until i put the driver on. subsequently, i remover power strip.

with 3dmark isn't there a window of like 200 points or sumthin?? for example, if you ran it once and got 7000 couldn't you run it again and get 7100... and then run it even again and get 6900??
I have just heard this from one of my techie friends..... looking for clarification!

No, I've never even seen it off by 1% before with these Sagers. At most 40-50 points but usually it's within 30.

It may be more on his system depending wha tthe system is and how he's running it. I'm just saying from my experience with the Sager systems. 200pts still sounds high though, unless he's running 14-15K in the point range at a low res, otherwise stability and heat may be the cause.

With the drivers from sagernotebooks.com I was consistently getting inconsistent #s. With the Omega drivers the #s are stable though (as is 3D rendering, no more pauses, weird effects).

huh?

What the heck are Omega Drivers? You mean the 6218s?
spires posted a link to the omega drivers in the drivers forum somewhere. i've tried them and they appear to work fine but they haven't been updated in a while and the catalyst drivers scored a better 3dmark (by more than 400 pts) so i uninstalled them rather quickly . i haven't played with either long enough to say which ones are more stable thou.
azzwupr, where do you get the new catalyst drivers? The omegas I'm using have been significantly more stable than the old drivers but if they are outdated I'd like to try something new.
The link for the new catalyst drivers is at the top of this thread... Investorguy put it there. Click on it and then click on ATI Mobile Drivers (or something like that, going by memory) and download the latest DX8 drivers (unless you have DX9, lol).

i think the latest drivers can be downloaded here:
http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/powered.html

i scored a 7237 with these drivers running everything stock and they seem to be pretty stable. someone else in the driver's forum installed these as well and didn't have any problems with them either.
