does it only lockup when you play games? which games? be a little more specific and we might be able to find the problem.

Have you done any of the updates (bios, fan firmware, drivers) yet? What bios version do you currently have?

Locking up with movies...

I had this problem with my D470K (M-tech's version of the 4750). If I tried to play a movie (from a DVD or file), the player software would definitely lock up, and would often lock up the whole machine. I couldn't start WCIII either, since it always begins with an intro movie, and the machine would always lock up. I spent a week installing all the different video drivers and trying different things.

I talked with tech support (Pro-Star handles M-tech's support), and the guy told me to re-install XP, and install the drivers from the CD *exactly* in the order given in the manual.

I rolled my eyes , since I *obviously* know what the heck I'm doing, but did it anyway under the theory that if I followed his instructions and it still locked up, I might have grounds to return it, or get further, actually helpful support.

Well guess what, I downloaded all the latest drivers from Pro-Star's web site, installed them in the exact order specified in the book, and the problem went away.

I don't know which driver I installed that caused the issue, but I've since installed SP2 with no troubles. I do get the DVD "stutter" issue if I try the Catalyst 4.9 or 8.07 beta drivers, so I'm just sticking with the older drivers that I got off Pro-Star's site until ATI fixes the problem.

Thus far, the only driver I've updated is the AMD processor driver from AMD's site, and everything works great.

Also, if you haven't already:
Install MSN messenger 6.2.
Go into the Camera Settings, and click on the "Advanced" button.
There should be three radio buttons under a "No Flicker" heading: Off, 50Hz, and 60Hz.
Set this to "Off". Your camera picture should brighten up drastically.

Your video problems were driver related. The new bios supposedly allows you to use the newer drivers without the stuttering. I am currently using the 4.10 drivers from omega. I haven't tested the video playback yet.

I'm using the 4.10's omegas and i experience no shutter whatsoever.

I did the BIOS update and installed the newest ATI drivers from Sager.. Every movie would lock up.. TV tuner would not work at all. all my video players would lock up. I uninstalled the driver and went back to the previous verison and all is good.. I am going to try out the omega driver next to see if that driver works...
try the newest omega first. I want to see if the bios fixes the video playback.
ok downloaded the newest drivers from omegadrivers.net... got the same thing... Uninstalled the drivers and went back to the previous ones from sager... Tuner and videos worked again Verified that my bios says 1.03 and it does. I even reflashed the it just to make sure.....

I have an email out to sager i will let you know what they have to say about it.
doesn't the tv-tuner require a separate driver? try reinstalling the tv-tuner driver after installing the omegas, and be sure to uninstall the ati control panel and the ati drivers and restart before you install the omegas.

I have reloaded the OS and all the drivers after doing the BIOS update. My DVD playback well I have none now.... TV Turner well it looks up.... Uninstall the Video Drivers and installed the previous one Everything is fine....

I have also noticed that the CPU never goes above 800mhz with the new BIOS. I went back to verison 1.01 and it now goes back upto 2.2Ghz. Now I need to go and install the Fan Firmware....

I have installed all the different video drivers from Omega and Sager going back 3 verisons from Omgea and both versions from Sager. I would like to use the Omega Driivers if I could get all my options to work. But I think I will stay with the BIOS at 1.01 and I'll keep trying video drivers until they can get it right.

This guy is using a bootleg OS, openly stated, on a public forums, where legal action can be taken by requesting his IP address from the mods/admin - and NOBODY has advised him to edit his post and remove the "offensive" information that was unnecessary in the first place?

Microsoft really doesn't care about this type of thing on such a small scale. They know that people pirate Windows, and they know that they won't be able to stop everyone. That's just a simple fact of the business.

What they DO care about (to the point of actually spending time/resources) is corporate piracy. They can make a lot more money from businesses pirating their software on a large scale as opposed to a single individual.

And for what it's worth, anyone could go on a public forum and claim to have pirated anything (maybe just to "sound cool"), and that doesn't make them guilty of anything; there is no proof.

I really don't think that is a big issue to tell you the truth....... And what does that have to do with this thread..??? If you have a bootleg you can't get the updates..... easy as that....

Back to the problem at hand..

I have emailed sager about the problem with the lock ups... They think the BIOS my have only been half way upgraded????? I will keep all posted when I get another reply....
