okay- my bootleg Windows XP is a Copy of my Windows XP CD that I tried to slipstream SP2 into it. I must have messed up since I cannot get DirectX 9.0c. Uhh The bios I upgraded fine problem was that when i would burn it I would burn the .bin files in it causing it to be something other than that. So far I have not had any lockups so far. I will try downgrade my SP2 to SP1 and reinstall everything. Thanks to Chance for the bios. its hard to be doing this at a Navy base where I cannot hookup my laptop. Also I run close to 59*C when playing Far Cry on Highest settings is this bad? 40*C also any good laptop coolers. Maybe I wont buy a dell.

Only 59*C. I run 67*C when playing counter strike source for an hour.
Mayaman,

You still reach 67 C even after installing the new bios and firmware ?

Since I updated both new bios version and firmware my laptop stays @ a constant 55 C after playing Counterstrike Source , Farcry or Doom 3 .

I haven't gotten the new bios to work. What gpu driver are you using?

Counterstrike source can run at 1680x1050 at high settings and gets an average fps of 35 fps to 40 fps! Amazing graphics! And the temperature only got up to 60*C after gaming for 10 minutes. Usually it gets up to 63-65 while gaming for 10 minutes so I guess the new bios lower temperatures 3-5*C! This is how you do it:
This is the new Bios for only the 4750. Use a "burn image to disc" feature and then boot from that disc. That's what I did wrong before. I tried to make a bootable disk and that didn't work.

i remember someone saying before that this bios included the new fan firmware

Mayaman,

I have the new Radeon Omega Drivers (v2.5.90) installed.

And as for the bios update ..... i too had problems booting with it
( wasted 5 cd-r )

But after extracting the bios;s . iso and using 1 of the 2 files als an image and also copying the same iso file to the same cd .... seemed to work for me
I don't know if this is normal procedure, but maybe you can try it out ... who knows , it might boot up

as for the new bios supporting the newest fan firmware ... i think it is true.

But you can also install the firmware seperately , like it did.... .... Worked out fine .

is anyone having problems with DVD playback when they use the new Omega or Sager Video drivers?
I'm using the new Ati drivers 8.04 with the new bios 1.03 and have had no problems whatsoever.

Also I installed the Atlon 64 processor driver. With the power setting set at "Minimal Power Management", my computer is running at cool temps whether on batteries or plugged in.

That's what works for me.

I recall having a problem with my DVD playback using Intervideo WinDVD. That program was part of the software package that came with the computer I bought 3 weeks ago. It was using up so much memory. I have 1024MB of ram and usually at startup my free mem is approx. 780MB but after playing the DVD a few minutes, the ram would drop drastically to 75MB - 200MB.

So beware. You might be having low memory problems without even realizing it.

To fix this (besides looking for other programs to play DVD's) and also keep a watch on the memory, I installed MemTurbo. With this program I have it automatically defrag and free up the memory when it reaches a certain threshold (say 375MB) and at 30 minute intervals.

when watching half baked the other day it was kinda glitchy, but i think thats due to the file being crappy. Does it only get choppy when playing a dvd, or any sort of video file. I havent noticed anything yet, and im using the newest omegas and the newest bios.

well i found out what might be the problem- VPU Recover or something would lock it up or some crap like that and than would reset thus locking it up because of the program opening up so I thought it was locked up and than I would reset but after hitting ctrl-alt-del it than took like 15 seconds to get into it and ill try disabling that pos thing. argh oh well it aint that bad.

Well after many emails to Sager they have no answer or idea what is going on with my laptop.

So I downgraded the BIOS back to 1.01, installed the Fan firmware update and I'm going to try to install the newest Omega drivers...

I will let everyone know if this works

I've read these forums for a long time, and opted to end up getting a sager 4750 myself as well.

Unfortunately, I am having the same problems with 3d application games like doom3, battlefront, battlefield, dungeon siege, daoc, warcraft3, and so on.

I keep on getting random lockups.....with an occasional crash+reboot.

I ordered the laptop on sep 28th, a couple of days before the new vid drivers came out. After experiencing the problems, I ended up reinstalling everything....with the updated vid drivers....and still the same problems occur.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try and flash the bios...but...<sigh>...this just sux

You say "file being crappy." Do you mean the movie is an AVI or mpeg file on your harddrive that you are watching? If you are doing any other HD-intensive activity while watching the movie, I bet you would get some lag

I too am having problems. When I had the 1.01 bios and omega drivers I could not play videos but my game play was fine, battllefield was running smoothly, even if the fans were a little loud. Now I have the new bios 1.03 and I can play videos again! hurray. Yet, when I went to play battliefield it is choppy...wtf!!!! I have the new radeon drivers which said they required the 1.03 drivers. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

I also posted this under another thread...

I hope this can save you the headache that I had with the BIOS upgrade.

Well after talking to Sager (no help at all) and trying all kinds of different combos. I finally got everything to work. This is what I had to do....

1. Install the fan firmware (found on this site posted by Adam).
2. Upgraded the system BIOS to 1.03 (which also includes the fan firmware so I have been told).
3. Boot to OS (Windows XP SP2 in this case).
5. Uninstalled the ATI Drivers.
4. Installed latest ATI drivers (Sager Drivers in this case).
5. Uninstalled and reinstalled the AMD CPU Drivers.

All the DVD playing software and the TV Turner work..... I have no idea who what where when or way but it works..... Finally!!!
