Can I use dial up AND cable modem?

Thread Starter
I'm getting cable modem on Thursday, but I would also like to use my AOL dial up connection sometimes. It will be more expensive to pay for both, but for a little while at least, I want to use both. Is there any reason that I can't set my notebook to do both? Thanks for your help. I have learned that you all on this forum know about everything.

You can keep both but as you pointed out it will cost money. I believe you can still keep your aol account without paying for dial up through them ($10 a month???). You would just log into their web site to check your mail and so forth.

tcp/ip

I used to have a connection to aol through my cable modem. I would connect my cable modem, sign on to aol, and use the add new connection or like feature. You can also change your billing to make aol only 9.95 a month if you use your cable to connect to it. I am sure if you call AOL they will advise you on how to confirgure totally, but you do not need dial up if you have a cable modem attached and active.

I have both AOL and cable modem... You can choose to pay them $4 a month. You will get free 4 hours dial up a month, but unlimitted to access to AOL via cable modem. I keep my AOL because when I travel, I can access to the net for checking email and such.

Check it out for "Lite plan" It's $4.95 a month. I got a promotion, it's $4.00 a month for 6 months. Not sure they still have this promotion or not.

Get away from AOL. It is the WORST ISP out there! If you want dialup, then just get something else. For the features they offer, you can get those anywhere! You can even use AIM for free without having AOL. If you just want dialup now and then for like trips, go here: http://consumer.att.com/prepaidcard/prepaidinternet/.

When I am on a trip I just use internet my dad gets through the office (that is if the hotel does not have broadband) so I have not tried this, yet it looks good. You pay for like 30 hours the whole year or something along those lines so you are not stuck using up a monthly limit. Oh, and if you want features from an ISP, just go MSN then. They offer more than AOL I think.

DOWN WITH AOL!!!!
