Having MAJOR 8600 issues...

post #1 of 8

So ok I went to my laptop this morning and found that when I opened the screen up, the screen didn't come on. I always leave my laptop on so I was surprised. This has happened several times in the past, and it irritates me but it's a design flaw since it happens with my friend's 8600 and various other people's laptops I know.

Anyway, I do the hard reset. I find that when I get into Windows that I get an error 'jusched.exe'. I reboot and get the same error. I find out that it's part of Java, so I uninstall the Java runtime. I then find out out that Trillian will not load, and crashes in the same way that Java did. I reinstall Trillian, or rather...I TRY to, since it crashes with the SAME error mid-way through the install. I can't reinstall Trillian and I can't load Trillian. I also can't load Norton SystemDoctor since it TOO crashes. So basically I'm pissed off to no end since I only formatted and reinstalled a week ago. It's not a memory issue since I swapped out the memory to no avail.

Damn!! Anyone got any ideas?

I was just about to reformat, when Norton popped up and told me my date was set too high...

My date was set to 9004. I don't know HOW that happened. I reset it to 2004, rebooted, and my system works again!

Word of advice, DON'T change your date to 9004. (I didn't...but somehow it did...)

what the 8-}
This problem has nothing to do with the laptop
It is a WINDOWS problem, so dont blame on the i8600 Windows is like a glassware, if you know how to hold it, it wont break down on you. And if you dont, too bad
Look like you have FAT32, not NTFS, thats why the files got corrupted
My i8600 never freezes on me I think that's amazing, since all of the computer i work with before freeze at least 2 a week 8-}

Yeah what's up with that? I've had the exact same problem with my 5150 and 1100 in the past. Hella annoying.

oh, What did you mean by problem? Certainly the program crashes is not i8600, but the "sleeping screen" is definitely its I heard the new BIOS will fix them, dont know if its worth a try

I thought this was a driver issue, my 8600 used to do this when I had the hacked ATI drivers running. Now that I use the omegas it always comes right back as soon as I open the lid.
