Question on RAM, BIOS booting, and M6809 hard drive.

On the RAM, would 768 of RAM be more noticeable than the 512?

In the BIOS, if you configure it so it looks at the hard drive first, it'll boot faster, right? There's no problems when you do that, is there?

What is the RPM for the hard drive?

1: It depends on your usage. For most, more is better. If you are not utilizing 512MB of memory with the tasks you run though, then no. There would be no advantage.

2: It will boot faster, but only milliseconds. Assuming you have no other removable drives, it only takes a split second for the BIOS to recognize that there is no drive in the CD/DVD drive. The boot up time difference will be a little more if you have a non-bootable CD in the drive. Then, the optical drive actually has to spin up and scan for boot information. The question you want to ask your self is, do you want to spend the time changing the boot order any time you need to boot from CD, or eat the unnoticeable boot time difference.

3: 7200RPM. Back to the boot-up ime question ... HUGE difference between 7200RPM and the standard 4200RPM.

Stock is 4200, actually.

My bad ... I thought he was wondering about upgrades. After re-reading, I think you are right ... he was asking what the stock drive was.
