Wireless Problems - Page 2

Device manager -- I know you did. Wooster's first post on this page made no mention of asking them, so I thought I'd try it again. (I've edited the post.)

sometimes, the school requires you to accept some sort of a cookie right off the bat, to be able to use their network.

Or you may want to mess around with the "advance" settings, and adjust the "automatically connect to non-preferred networks", as well as the other settings. I used to have to do that to get it to work in my school's network, even though I had a good feed, and signal.

Well, I contacted UW tech support. They say that there is no wireless network in my dorm, yet I see it on the list of available networks...

So it looks like I'm screwed.

Not really. Ask your neighbors if they know who is broadcasting the SSID and maybe they'll flip you a key.

I figured since this has the most recent reply on wireless problem, I might as well ask a question here. Instead of starting a whole new thread.

I am not getting a signal from my wireless router. It is a Netgear mr814v2. and I am using the dell 1450. WAP is enabled. Treid switching channels on router. Tried WEP Keys and MAC access.

any suggestions?!?!?

DAsleeper, disable WEP and see if you can connect. Worst case scenario reset the router to defaults and go from there....

try to do a ipconfig /flashdns. try to reset your wireless router. and let it rest for a min and rehook up to your laptop..

or... is the wireless router having some issues? can you plug your connection directly to the jack (not going to use the router).

if you can surf the net using the hardwire, something wrong of the wireless.

Yeah I had a similar problem at my university. Found out you have to go through the IT department and your wireless card has to be registered with the school. So just check the IT department like device said.
