Why I vote for Falcon Northwest? I own one. I have the Falcon Northwest Exotic Mach V computer. The system is lighting fast and very stable. I have had only one problem with my computer and it was the video card.
Falcon had FedEx pick up my computer on Monday September 06, 2004 and shipped it back to me on Friday September 10, 2004. They replaced the Video card with a new BFG 6800 ultra. They also upgraded all drivers ran it for three days to be sure of no problems. Gave me new benchmarks scores and a new restore disc. I have called BFG for I saw on their web site talking about “life time warranty on their video cards.” Falcon Northwest gives me three years warranty, but BFG told me I would also get lifetime even if I had a video problem after seven years I would get a replacement card.
The tech that I worked with also said that Falcon did not want me to have any more problems with my computer; that they also changed out the power supply and upgraded it to 650-watt unit (from 550). (remember the 6800 ultra likes power). I must ask how long would AW have your computer if it had to be returned for a problem. Maybe that is bias on my behalf in saying so but in reading on this forum I see it being true about AW depot.
AW says they won’t ship next day air for the problems they have, I had my computer shipped next day air “no problems” I even had Gateway ship over next day air with no problems. So I don’t understand why AW is having such problems with next day air.
Lets talk about price. Yes Falcon Northwest computers are very expensive. But if that’s a problem don’t look at FNW then or voodoo for that mater. I feel that the money I spent over buying an AW is will worth it. I have read the problems that people are having with AW, and I can say I don’t have them with my FNW. I also ordered a computer that only took under three weeks to get to me with all the newest components installed and with no waiting or back-orders. They had the parts to build my computer on hand. I was waiting for over 83 days before I canceled my AW computer because of back-orders. When calling FNW tech support if you can’t get though you leave a message and they (FNW) will call you back. No waiting on the phone to get help. I called and got though on the first call, but I did one time have to leave a message, but FNW called me in under five minutes. And when I was getting answers to my computer needs I was never put on hold by the tech he/she know the answerers and did not have to ask someone else for them.
I have had my Falcon for five months now and I have never had a lock-ups, blue screen of death, nor any other issues that I have read here on this forum. I run my computer on the highest any game can go and it never fails to amaze me.
AW has FNW, Voodoo at a vantage and that’s price. So if Price is an issue, go with AW, but if you want the very best I say go with FNW. Now I know I will get some negative responses on this posting, but the fact is FNW is the first gaming computer and in my opinion the best computer I have ever bought.
