My new rig, tell me what you think

Thread Starter
Ok, after ALOT of debate and research with my parents, I am going to build my desktop. The ALX is nice, its fast, and the X2 will blow my pants off, but it would also blow the bank up. I need a challenge, and i would love my own little rig.

Now here are the specs:

CASE: http://www.xoxide.com/koolance650bu.html
The case is the Koolance PC2-650BU (Blue) with water cooling built in. Its a great case from what I hear, so I chose it

CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...131-233&DEPA=1
Not much to say here, if it gets the job done, Im happy.

Video Card: X800 XT PE, PCI-Express
http://www.futurepowerpc.com/scripts...V&REFID=&tab=0
Its a great card, and is perfect for me. I looked at the 6800 Ultra, but I couldn't get it PCI-E and it wasn't what I really wanted.

Motherboard: ASUS P5AD2 Premium
http://www.xpcgear.com/asusp5ad2pre.html
I added the 520 W PSU btw. Anyways, its one of ASUS's best motherboards, and it has a CPU Multiplier un-lock feature. This means I can (according to reviews) overclock my P4 to 4.0 Ghz, run my DDR 2 at DDR2 710, and run my FSB at 1066. Also it has all the little features I would come to expect from Asus.

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 3.6 Ghz 1MB
Again, not much here. Its a fast CPU that i have looked into, and it overclocks great.

Memory: GEIL 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 Dual-Channel (it overclocks great as well)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...144-326&depa=1
Good memory, I read the reviews and it overclocks great and is very fast.

Hard Drive: 200 GB w/ 8MB Cache (7200 RPM)
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...144-139&depa=1
200 GB should work great for me, and since I have a ****load of stuff, Its a good choice.

Sound Card: Audigy 2 Platinum Pro
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-164&depa=0
Its a great card, my friend has one and he loves it. It comes with the extra console with inputs, which is a must for me because I DJ alot and for my band we need it to hook up our sound equipment.

Overall Price: $2,480.99

Tellme what you think, I havent ordered anything yet, its just what I have come up with.

whats the difference between the Koolance PC2-650BU and the Koolance PC2-601BLW?

arnt they the same case and one is $20 cheaper?

the 601BLW doesnt have the components for the water cooling, you need to purchase those seperatly.
Nice I parove of that cae i want one too but why not go with AMD they are great processors and cheaper than intels. I guess you hav eto get Intel for now if you realy want PCi-e But in my opionion get an AMD with a realy nice AGP card and you will not be dis apointed they are giong to make PCi-e Boards for AMD's later and all you owuld need is the new MB and video card to upgrade to it. Thats why I went the way I did.

Overview

On Sale! Koolance's PC2-601 comes in two different styles: jet black (601BW), and metallic blue (601BLW). All versions feature Koolance's very own pre-installed window kit and decal.

With exceptional quality, the 601 systems also incorporate many valuable case features, including:

Lockable front & side door for security
Tool-free upper panel assembly and hard drive cages
Sliding drive rails, and more!
Components Required

Cooler kits such as the CPU, hard drive, and video/motherboard chipset are not included with Koolance systems. To operate the system at minimum, a CPU cooler is required. Other liquid components (such as the radiator, pumps, and LED display) come pre-installed. For more information, please see How to Build a Koolance.

you still need to buy the cooler kits no matter which you buy... youre paying for the extra crap on the case when you buy the one you selected...

Actauly its a pretty standard case design alot af manufaturers use it. My aspire looks almost exaclty the same my friend has an antech and it looks very similar. The only diference is the water cooling wich without that would be pointless. But I assure you this case design is solid.
your aspire was influenced by it but that koolance IS a cheiftec dragon.

and the dragon is by far the most copied/modified case... EVER. probably the most versitile and therfore most popular case out there now. i dunno why alienware ever ditched those things.

they didn't, the current predator case is made off of the same design as well as the ALX...which usues koolance components (WB's, tubing, radiator etc.)

Yeah, Pinky is a great system. I dno, I might wait for the AMD 64 based PCI-Express mobos to come out (anyone have an idea when?). I could use 64 Bit technology on my side, especially with all the beta testing I do.
